About this tournament
1 round of play
The first of this season's Three-Ring Junior's series events! I Fling Plastic welcomes our Junior competitors to the Roundhouse Farm DGC in Watertown.
Three-Ring Juniors events are truly designed with young players of all ages and skill levels in mind. No PDGA membership is required for C-Tier events and there are no non-member fees for Junior divisions. We work to choose courses that are challenging enough to be fun for our oldest competitors while still being accessible to kids who are newer to the sport or in the middle age divisions. For the youngest divisions we shorten any holes that may feel frustratingly long to little arms with a flagged temporary tee to create a custom layout just for them. We set all this up for each event with the specific players registered for that event in mind so you may get an email from us asking about your junior players' experience.
This event is one-round, juniors-only sanctioned C-Tier. The top 3 finishers in each division will get a trophy regardless of division size. This tournament is part of a points series and players will be awarded points based on event participation and standings at the end of an event with the players in each division who earn the most points over the course of the season being awarded a trophy for being the series winner for their division. Players can participate in just one or two events or all six.
Every player will get a player's pack including a mini, sticker, and some funny money to spend at the event shopand with first vectors (I Fling Plastic is our Guest Vendor for this one) on discs, disc golf accessories, and more. Our goal is to continue to ensure everyone goes home with something fun from the event while also giving kids a feel for how most amateur tournaments work and letting them have more options in what they recieve. The top 40% of players in each division will get more funny money as their amateur payout. Funny money can be spent the day of or for players who will be doing more than one event it can be saved up from one series event to the next to use on larger items.
For those who may be unfamiliar with the age divisions, players should sign up based on the age they will be on December 31st of 2023. Players can also choose to 'play up' in an older division of they'd prefer to do so.
This event will use tee times.
The earliest tee-time will be 10am and they will be posted 24 hours in advance. Tee times will be scheduled every 15 minutes and the latest tee-time will be determined by our total number of players. Each division will be placed together on tee times so that as an entire division has finished playing, winners can get their funny money payout totals and shop in our event shop with their credit.
If you need siblings carded together who are not in the same division to allow for them to share the same guardian we are happy to accommodate that by carding the player who's division is playing later with the players from the earlier division.
We will have a putting challenge and a long drive contest as well as Closest-to-Pin, long putt, and Closest-to-Tee prizes.
This is a PDGA sanctioned event and the rules for sanctioned play will be followed by we also understand that many of our players and families are new to sanctioned events and so we try to always keep the focus on educating and helping. We ask that parents who are unfamiliar with or who haven't recently read the PDGA's Youth Safety Policy do at the time of signup so we can answer any questions they may have and to ensure all our competitor families feel they can meet these requirements.
The Youth Safety Policy can be found in section 1.13 of the competition manual and at this link: https://www.pdga.com/rules/competition-manual/113
