I haven’t received mine either so I understand the frustration. No one likes being screwed. I would caution that going to the news may have unintended consequences. First of all, they certainly can’t make Doc pay. He probably doesn’t have the money anyway. But second and more importantly, this may red flag municipalities into not allowing these types of tournaments or worse. Often, even while I’m sure they may have the best intentions, the local news tends to sensationalize a story. This could be a real black eye to disc golf overall and it shouldn’t be. I would prefer to keep this a Doc issue and not a disc golf issue, which is where it could in up in the eyes of those who don’t understand. I certainly don’t want to minimize the severity of the situation or the amount of money here. Let’s face it, this doesn’t happen often and while it is a horrible situation, it is quite isolated. Going to the news may help you win a battle but in the end we may lose the war. In future, I think we as a community should set up tighter vetting processes for TD’s, especially for larger events. Perhaps it’s time to think about bonds for tourney’s over a certain threshold.
