Let's get a few things clear:
The PDGA is NOT responsible for this mess, Doc Turner is.
The PDGA does NOT have your money, Doc Turner does.
The PDGA does NOT have the player pack merchandise, Doc Turner does.
So, I can't return your money, and I can't mail out your player packs. The only thing I CAN do is to collect the data to find out who is owed what, and then beat on Doc Turner do something about it.
For all of you who had something nice to say and thanked me for trying to help, you are most welcome as it's my pleasure to try and help, Thank YOU.
As for those of you who have only taken the opportunity to be nasty (to the only person who is actually trying to help you by spending hours of his time requesting and compiling this data), well, you are welcome too, but you know what they say about Karma.
This latest push for data has been good, we are now down to 101 people who have not responded which is 83% replied. I'm still hoping to get to at least 90%, so please respond if you haven't already done so. Thanks.

well said / I have been trying to explain this to various players for some time that the PDGA is trying to do what they can but the only person that has the $$ and can do the right thing is the TD for he is the person who collected the $$ not the PDGA and all the PDGA can do is request the TD to handle the ongoing situation and do the right thing

We appreciate your help and I think we just all are wondering what you are doing with all of your gathering of information. Beat on Doc is good. Everyone seems to want to see some responsibility accepted by Doc. I would be very scared if I was him.

Also haven’t received mine. No contact from Doc, no contact from the PDGA. I understand they don’t receive money from this but it IS sanctioned by them. I called Kentucky’s attorney general and he said the only place that can be sued is the PDGA as it was sanctioned by them and hosted via an outside company. Then the PDGA would have to sue Doc.

I haven’t received mine either and at this point I really don’t care. I suggest not getting upset about not receiving something that is just going to completely disappoint you if you do happen to ever get it. Now I realize $100 is $100, and I understand principal, but i’m struggling to understand how $100 is that big of a hit to folks to want to cause litigation or some class action rigmarole. I mean, presumably we aren’t using our rent money to buy into a disc golf tourney, right? Did anyone really use anything besides disposable income for this event? As far as Doc, here’s what I think... He spent the money (I’m betting on personal debt) as soon as he received registrations assuming he would pay it back with money made from payouts and sponsorships. I’m betting that’s why he was so quick to say he wasn’t giving refunds (at the time) when the tourney first got postponed. I don’t believe Doc just pocketed the money or bought a new car. He was desperate, he gambled, and lost. While he might have got some temporary relief with the windfall, I bet he is still on the struggle bus. Out of all of this, two things I struggle with. One, how people actually were defending Doc, and two, how people blame the PDGA. This was a bad situation and we all got screwed, but I think it’s time to move on. Evident Doc has...

Andrew, any updates on people who have received stuff recently? Unfortunately, I was a double-loser with BG and Nash. I finally got some things for Nash as I went directly to Prodigy, but I have yet to receive anything for BG. Curious what % have gotten anything so far. I've heard rumblings of a few packs going out, but that's all.

@craig I don’t like knowing a thief has my money. I 100000% won’t press since it would be pushed onto the PDGA. If the class action went against Doc 1048295018401% would. Why wouldn’t I? At this point there’s hundreds of people that didn’t receive their stuff still. That’s tens of thousands of dollars, why should he be let off the hook for it? It’s more about principal for me.

Andrew, can you give us an update on your stats and any feedback from Doc? For example, x number of players or X percent of players have received there player packs. As this is a PDGA sanctioned tournament is there no responsibility for the PDGA to push to correct this issue. I feel that we need one voice to make some this happen with this guy.

PDGA does not have a penny of our $$ / those $$ were all hi jacked by Doc Turner. There are no funds for them to hire an attorney or to get us refund for they have collected -0- for this event. PDGA collect $$ per player post event not pre-event. Any litigation would have to be pursued against this TD that has dropped the ball on us all. I would expect sanctions against this TD from the PDGA (expulsion / and/or suspension from the PDGA but that is about the limit of their ability to make this right other than hounding Doc to do the right thing and get all players the player packs (again once that player pack is received it will not ease your pain it will just infuriate you more how crappy that player pack actually is based on entry fees paid.

I appreciate the comment Mike. With the large total amount stolen from us I am having a hard time comprehending that we can not ban together to do something. We are talking thousands of dollars and this just isn’t right.

Suit against the TD by players but it would have to be some type of class action and attorney take it completely on a contingency basis. A PDGA player that is an attorney could make a few bucks but the wrongdoer would have to be collectible and I am not sure Doc has assets that would warrant such a suit.

I think at this point if we can gather a true list of those who honestly just signed up and did not receive anything they need to look at either giving us free entry into 2021 tournament or send us a 2021 players pack. Something has to be done to right the wrong. I'm not sure how to handle the ones who paid into more such as sponsoring a hole, shirts, etc.

Mike - I understand that, but it's still the same yearly tournament no matter what. Maybe 1/2 price entry fee or anything to help save face moving forward. I'm afraid it will affect the outcome of the 2021 tournament.

I guess I don't. There will be a lot of upset people moving forward who will never play this tournament again. We will see if 2021 has over 800 players like the previous years. All I'm saying is that if the ones who have not received anything for their 2020 entry fee that if HB "could" assist those who were screwed by Doc try to do something to help that would go a long way helping to move forward for future events. I "understand" who screwed everyone and understand it was not HB and it's a different year, but it's the same tournament. Maybe a little help for those now will help the tournament in years to come.

Nothing HB can do for 2020 // I have played his events for 15 years and I am not worried that 2021 will be an issue and not holding someone else's mistake against a different TD just because the event is played in the same city. Those who do not sign up in 2021 are missing out for there will be no issues with embezzled $$

exactly / if HB ran the event in 2020 this mess would have not occurred / you can not ask one TD pay for another's TD dishonesty. If you have been to BG from 2006 thru 2019 you know how the event is ran. The one year HB takes a hiatus from the event we have this mess Doc created. Judge HB on HB events not events he had nothing to do with. (2020 BG AMS was all DOC)

I get where your going with the comment J Moyer. So, Benjamin Doc Turner was a first time TD in charge of a large A tier event. Isn’t there any type of TD vetting to handle such a large event. Seems like a broken system if not.

Yes I am reviving this event, yes I tried to help Doc last year with advice - that did not go well, yes many sponsors got screwed out of $1000s making fund raising hard for me, and yes even if I take a loss I will run the event as planned. Come play the event, come play the courses both in your pool and others that will be open for play, see the vendors that have committed to come, and who knows, maybe you can verify the DOC sightings around BG that I have heard of and ask him in person for a refund.

http://www.bluegrassdiscgolf.org/BGOpen.html is the web site with all the information on pools, schedules, hotels, vendors, and more. By using DGU registration I have better control of the event and stay out of pay pal issues. I am doing all am prizes on line through DGU so there is no waiting after the event hoping to cash out a voucher.
