With less than a week until putting league starts (11/4) I want to introduce a few changes we are looking to introduce to make the league more interesting and competitive.
WEEKLY FEE - Since putting league was started 11 years ago the price ($5) has never changed. This year I would like to increase to $10 to not only grow the pot for playoff (winning team split $160 instead of $80) but I hope this to also makes people take the competition a little more seriously. If I receive a lot of push back for this, or our turn out dramatically drops because of it I will certainly consider adjusting. 1st week will still be $5 to as to not surprise anyone.
DOUBLE TAP - Sam and Dub will be stepping down and passing off the management of this to Kate and Dave Banninger. Changes they want to make:
- Change the basket from the standard Chainstar to a Mach Shift. This will allow some adjustment to tweak the difficulty of the activity
- No more cap on # of tickets that can be purchased
- 4 weeks of grace period where a player does not need to be a member to purchase weekly tickets
- Membership must be paid by Mach 2nd in order to be eligible for player pack disc and member raffle.
MOST DOUBLES - at the end of the year we increased the buy in to $2. We will be keeping with that. Also we will be paying out 1, 2, or 3 spots depending on how many players there are. See the pictures tab on DGS to see the payout structure.
FINALE BRACKET - a few years a go I kept points for players:
1st = 8pts, 2nd = 6pts, 3rd&4th = 4pts, 5th&6th = 3pts, 7&8th = 2pts, & 1pt for at least showing up. It didn't count for anything but this year I am going to do it again and have it mean something. We will be collecting $20/player who wants to be eligible for a year end bracket. All the money collected will be pooled for the top 16 players to be split into 2 pools (A: 1-8, B: 9-16) and randomly matched like normal league. They will be after the bracket on the final league night. Players who want to be eligible must pay by Feb 4th.
OTHER SIDE BETS - I will continue to run an Early Bird Special entry bracket ($1, winners gets entry for the night). Anyone else is welcome to run other side bets, or bring me ideas for others that can be run. In the past we have had Best Average, Doubles Cards, Spank the Monkey, Longest Putt, etc.
VENUE SUPPORT - 5Star has been wonderful to provide us with a couple pizza parties through the season and offer us a room for a FlyMart. We am going to be working on them to see if they can offer anything else as well through the season to offer people incentive to come to our league each week. If you have any ideas we can offer up to them, please let me know.

I cant get out to play this year. I was wondering if I bought into double tap membership if I can still participate in the double tap on the nights that I cant participate in the league?

Just like previous years we are going to keep the rule that you need to be participating in theleague that night to be eligible to purchase tickets that night. So, in short, sorry Dave, no.
