End Of Season Announcement

With the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the push from health officials to limit social interaction we have made the hard decision to cancel the rest of the MCCG Putting League at 5 Star Lanes. The nature of our competition does not allow for the social distancing of 6’ to be maintained. Combine that with the recent order from the governor to close all bars to close at 3pm today we would not have a venue.

Double Tap membership merch have not yet been picked up. They will be available next winter when Putting Leagues starts back up. If members just can’t wait until then, please contact Katie Banninger to arrange a pickup. The big prize winners for a Discraft basket and Zuca Gift Certificate will be randomly selected at a later date during a Facebook Live stream.
The cash pot for the points playoff provided for some stress on how to distribute. Ultimately, we decided that since there was no actual playoff as advertised, that we could not provide any payouts. So, we will offer the opportunity for any of the 21 players who bought in can receive a refund ($20 – contact Rob Dahmen) or allow it to roll over as their buy-in for next year. Next year will be a straight point system (the additional playoff was a cute idea but kinda dumb).

New Season Changes

With less than a week until putting league starts (11/4) I want to introduce a few changes we are looking to introduce to make the league more interesting and competitive.

WEEKLY FEE - Since putting league was started 11 years ago the price ($5) has never changed. This year I would like to increase to $10 to not only grow the pot for playoff (winning team split $160 instead of $80) but I hope this to also makes people take the competition a little more seriously. With less than a week until putting league starts (11/4) I want to introduce a few changes we are looking to introduce to make the league more interesting and competitive.

WEEKLY FEE - Since putting league was started 11 years ago the price ($5) has never changed. This year I would like to increase to $10 to not only grow the pot for playoff (winning team split $160 instead of $80) but I hope this to also makes people take the competition a little more seriously. If I receive a lot of push back for this, or our turn out dramatically drops because of it I will certainly consider adjusting. 1st week will still be $5 to as to not surprise anyone.

DOUBLE TAP - Sam and Dub will be stepping down and passing off the management of this to Kate and Dave Banninger. Changes they want to make:
- Change the basket from the standard Chainstar to a Mach Shift. This will allow some adjustment to tweak the difficulty of the activity
- No more cap on # of tickets that can be purchased
- 4 weeks of grace period where a player does not need to be a member to purchase weekly tickets
- Membership must be paid by Mach 2nd in order to be eligible for player pack disc and member raffle.

MOST DOUBLES - at the end of the year we increased the buy in to $2. We will be keeping with that. Also we will be paying out 1, 2, or 3 spots depending on how many players there are. See the pictures tab on DGS to see the payout structure.

FINALE BRACKET - a few years a go I kept points for players:
1st = 8pts, 2nd = 6pts, 3rd&4th = 4pts, 5th&6th = 3pts, 7&8th = 2pts, & 1pt for at least showing up. It didn't count for anything but this year I am going to do it again and have it mean something. We will be collecting $20/player who wants to be eligible for a year end bracket. All the money collected will be pooled for the top 16 players to be split into 2 pools (A: 1-8, B: 9-16) and randomly matched like normal league. They will be after the bracket on the final league night. Players who want to be eligible must pay by Feb 4th.

OTHER SIDE BETS - I will continue to run an Early Bird Special entry bracket ($1, winners gets entry for the night). Anyone else is welcome to run other side bets, or bring me ideas for others that can be run. In the past we have had Best Average, Doubles Cards, Spank the Monkey, Longest Putt, etc.

VENUE SUPPORT - 5Star has been wonderful to provide us with a couple pizza parties through the season and offer us a room for a FlyMart. We am going to be working on them to see if they can offer anything else as well through the season to offer people incentive to come to our league each week. If you have any ideas we can offer up to them, please let me know.

New season announcement

With the summer leagues coming to a close it is time to look forward to the winter season. With that of course comes the MCCG Putting League at 5 Star Lanes. This league and grown very popular with last year averaging 45 players every week. With this though it is quite a commitment from the organizers to be there every night for an 18 week season. This year a few of the staff are looking to take some of their Monday's back and enjoying the option to show up when they want. With that, w ... more

With the summer leagues coming to a close it is time to look forward to the winter season. With that of course comes the MCCG Putting League at 5 Star Lanes. This league and grown very popular with last year averaging 45 players every week. With this though it is quite a commitment from the organizers to be there every night for an 18 week season. This year a few of the staff are looking to take some of their Monday's back and enjoying the option to show up when they want. With that, we are looking for some new volunteers to step up to keep the league going for an 11th season.

Double Tap Director:
- Laptop to keep the basic statistics of players, money, and payouts straight
- Run the nightly event
- Manage the money (and tickets) each week which quickly gets into the hundreds of dollars
- Collect artwork for membership discs
- Place the order for membership discs

Support Staff:
- Laptop (with Excel) to run the spreadsheets for the operation of the league
- Training from Rob on how to run the league if he cannot make it (rare)
- Create and Manage side bets to increase the activity during the night
- Active on social media to increase interest in the league
- Organize a couple of flymarts through the season

These people need to commit that they can be there every week, without fail.
Rob will still be there to run the daily operation of the league. He just doesn't have a laptop so this is key. Without a laptop we have no league this season. Without a second person and a second laptop we have no Double Tap.
