Oregon cooperative points series Winter 2016/2017 Championship invitational Tournament

The Championship invitational tournament plans are in the works!
If you received a message by either DGS or text messages then you have won a berth to this tournament. Please reply soon so that DGLA staff may be able to fill every berth.
This year I expect to see quite a verity of players at this event. Have not ruled out a 16 player cap and BATTLE format yet. If BATTLE format is what we go with expect to see it sponsored up a bit.

Key Winter Leaderboard Stats

DGLA: Oregon Cooperative Point Series - Winter 2016/17

14 week State Wide Disc Golf League Point Series

Sunday Nov 20th 2016 - Saturday Feb 25th 2017

3 Leagues participating
33 Total # of Players
183 Total Rounds Played
3776 Total Points awarded

I like to look at the Points per Round Average (PRA) as it can help compare player potential and helps identify the sleepers or those who were unable to get out to as many rounds as some others but based on how they played if they had gotten out more they probably would have been at the top of the leaderboard.

Now if the number of rounds is high and your in this top ten list based on Points per Round Average then you are not only good but you are consistently good. Congrats. Like Zach "ZERO" Hartman, Devin "Rhino" Byerley, THE "BEAST" OF THE WOODS with over 20 rounds each. And there is Ugh Massa & Adam Carter with 13 rounds out of 14 weeks. The rest had 1-5 great rounds and I call these potential sleepers as if they had just got in a few more rounds they would have been at the top of the leaderboard based on their PRA.

Top 10 - 12 based on Points per Round Average

8 Shaun Kirk 138 3 46
15 Carl Boje 81 2 40.5
10 Brad Rich 113 3 37.66666667
12 Jesse Stover 106 3 35.33333333
4 Ugh Massa 336 13 25.84615385
5 Adam Carter 309 13 23.76923077
1 Zach "ZERO" Hartman 557 24 23.20833333
3 THE "BEAST" OF THE WOODS 423 20 21.15
2 Devin "Rhino" Byerley 463 22 21.04545455
14 Noel todero 95 5 19

I added Lily & bryan since they tied PRA for 10th but Noel did it more consistently over 5 rounds - Nice Rounds Noel.

24 Lily "Sassy" Johnston 19 1 19
24 bryan van fleet 19 1 19

- Nice round - look forward to seeing you out more often and challenging the top leaderboard.

Ok so what did it take this last Winter to get to the top Ten on the leaderboard?

You needed to play about 12 rounds, win about 3. Don't worry if you Ace challenged as no one in the top ten had a Winter ACE - they seem to be hard to get on these courses during winter. But you would need to get out at least 3 times during the colder rounds for some double points and most in the top attended the 2016 - 2017 Bad Ace Winter Series for 4x points.

Top Ten Average stats
279.3 Points
12.7 # of Rounds
#DIV/0! # of Rounds Counted
24.550 Average Points per Rounds
24.550 Average Points per Counted rounds
3.400 Wins
0.000 Aces
3.000 Double or Quadruple pt rounds

Now from 10th to 1st the stats can vary a lot and so we see 444 point delta between 10th and 1st. 3 rounds to 24 rounds.

Not surprising that our top three where the players with the most rounds played. Not always a given but a pretty good indicator.

Wins are also important but not always the biggest factor - consistent good play is the goal. Jenn Woodward is a great example. Through 10 rounds managed to keep a solid placement, hit two cold rounds for double points at Friday night black outs and that secured 6th place overall for a great season - Nicely done Jenn.

Now the more you play the more fun you have and the higher the potential that you will improve and become a consistently good player. 24 rounds was the most played rounds by any player this season. Combine that with 8 wins - the most by any player and attend all the cold rounds for some Polar Vortex points and you have the formula for success and the top spot on the leaderboard. That is what Zach "ZERO" Hartman did and he is our
