It has been open everytime I have gone there. You may have to pay if there is a person in the booth though.

i went up there last sunday around 11 and it was not open

It doesn't officially open until memorial day. But if you park at the subway on silver parkway there is a bridge going into the park that isn't gated.

we will not get in trouble for going in there with the front gates closed. I want to go practice for the silver lake beach open next weekend
