Chuckin' da deuce!

Friends,

With mixed emotions I’m here to inform you that I have made the decision to leave Alaska. I’ve lived here since June of ’04 and can honestly say I’ve never lived anywhere surrounded with such beauty and amazing people. There are many things I’ll miss about Alaska… and, of course, other things I won’t.

In March of ’14 I went in for my 5 year review with my boss. At that time I told him I was playing around with the idea to move back home. He told me he’d support any decisions I made. Fast forward to March of ’15. Again, I brought up the idea of moving away and my boss said “you said that last year.” We both laughed but he told me to just keep him in the loop.

Part of my decision to no longer run leagues for the club was because I thought this would be the year I made the decision to begin writing a new chapter to my book. I didn’t want to just up and leave you guys. Just to be sure you don’t find my other reasons I mentioned to be bogus, even if I chose to continue living here I would honestly be done with running leagues (along with all the other positions I’m in… was in). At some point in time I think it’s safe to say we all get burned out of stuff, right?

I’d like to thank the ADGA for trusting me to take over the weekly leagues for the club. In my honest opinion, Wednesday Night Dubs is currently run the way a league should be. I took over 6 years ago and it was a joke. I’ve received more props for the way WND’s is ran this year than in any other year. At King of the Hill this year I was told by Matt “Ugly” Stevens from Juneau that “this is the best ran league” he’s ever been a part of. That meant a lot to me (especially since he was just an outsider looking in, meaning he didn’t play). I’m stoked to hand over the torch and hopeful that leagues will continue to run smoothly moving forward.

Also, I know it’s still a ways away but I’d love to know that the Jailhouse Roc will continue on… even if it means I have to come up and run it (which I would gladly do work/life depending).

Please know that many of you will have a place to stay when visiting the Seattle area. The Pacific Northwest is loaded with quality courses/tournaments so find time to come visit!

Lastly, my last day of work is October 9th. The Smokehouse tournament in Girdwood is on the 10th… then I’m outta here.

Let’s finish the year off strong!

Hoping to be your friend for life - Louie

P.S. Please do not mention anything on Facebook as that will be the last place I post anything about my move. I have friends and family I'd like to talk to first before them reading anything on there. I appreciate your cooperation.

Thanks for all the work and effort you've put in to make DG possible. People who are dedicated to a cause and actually set up and do something are rare and it has been our blessing you lived here. Please be safe and enjoy your new adventure.
