Westwide Weekends 2014   October 13, 2014 at 8:39pm

The End of Westside Weekends is upon us

It has been a rare circumstance that I have had to bump people up a division in the middle of a season . . .and I have never had it happen where these people I jumped up remained in the points lead in then lower division. This happened partially because I had no scoring history at Miniwaukan Park and also because I had no idea who or how many people would ultimately be playing Open. Well I had to set a precedent with this league and that is that if you do not finish a season in a division you cannot qualify for a trophy in that division . . . because you ultimately were in the wrong division to begin with. It was a hard decision but I do feel it is fair. With that said I wanted to encourage Tyler Kollias, Alex Jensen, Matt TheGorilla Brody, Mike Ellery, and James Newton to come next week if they can. You are all still very much in the hunt for all three of the trophy positions even though it looks like you would be battling for third place. I will see you all Saturday. I hope to have the trophies completed by then so we can have a ceremony right after league.

As for the Intermediate Division . . . the points races are very close. Depending on attendance in Intermediate . . . 3 people Brandon Tougaw, Mike Brody, and Josh Moore are fighting for 2nd and 3rd while Brandon Kinsey looks comfortable in 1st place.

Recreational is even closer with Adam Larke and Matt Lemke in a virtual tie after the lowest two points weeks are dropped . . . They are averaging only .1111 throws difference per round . . . so EVERY THROW COUNTS THIS WEEK!

ACE POOL . . . Have we seriously gone an entire season without an Ace at Miniwaukan???? Well if we don't see an ace this week during the round . . .we will be doing an ace run until someone hits an ace. Everyone will get 5 throws at a shortened hole . . . If more than one person hits an ace in round 1 . . . those people will split 50% of the COMBINED ace pool from all divisions. We will continue on with 5 throws per person per round . . . until SOMEONE hits an ace and takes the money. The other 50% will be donated to the course funds to put towards the course improvements we all hope for next year and beyond.

Thanks to all of you for your attendance this season . . . I look forward to more leagues and tournaments in Mukwonago next year. Thanks to Tyler Kollias for dedicating his Saturdays this summer/fall to running this league . . . I am happy to have him helping out with The Disc Golf Experience events.

As for the rest of the Fall . . . we plan to continue to run something each week until Thanksgiving. I am open to ideas so we should talk about it this Saturday and see what might be fun to do in the 4-5 weeks left before winter hits.
