1. WARNER PHASE II UP-DATE:
Jon Tveite presented a letter he drafted to send to the City of Manhattan Parks Board. The letter is regarding the Warner Park Phase II Project on behalf of DFOK. A few minor edits were discussed. Jon will present the revised letter to the Parks Board requesting DFOK be on the July 7th Meeting Agenda.
2. LEAGUE UPDATES & PLANNING: (see below for future leagues)
BAG TAG & POINTS LEAGUE: League ends in June. Tags for sale through last week of league, 100 tag cap. Rick Petrie presented the current balance of $324.06, after $5.94 reimbursement for card stock for scorecards. (66 tags x $5 ea. = $330.00 - $5.94 = $324.06).
DFOK DOUBLES: See Rev Kev's notes at http://www.discgolfscene.com/leagues/2014_DFOK_Doubles
3. BASKET ROTATION COMMITTEE UP-DATES:
Warner: No update.
Fairmont: 1. Move baskets once per week when DFOK Doubles is temporarily moved to Fairmont (June/July). 2. Rick to donate time & materials to make one more steel cover (for #2 pin placement).
4. CLUB MISSION & BYLAWS, LEADERSHIP STRUCTURE, FINANCIAL STANDARDS, ETC.
Much discussion took place about ways to get more of the local players involved in DFOK admin. & meetings, outreach to new/beginner players, continue to improve DFOK financial documentation & processes.
5. OTHER TOPICS, TIME PERMITTING.
Most of this time was spent discussing topics in the following two categories.
(A) Hosting fun/test league formats from July to October of 2014.
(B) Options for, and benefits of, starting Annual DFOK Club Memberships in 2015.
The following Test / Fun league formats for DFOK to host in the upcoming months have been set:
JULY: "Worst Lie July" (Doubles league with a twist. You play the worst lie, as determined by the other team on your card).
AUGUST: "Triples with Validation" (Like standard doubles but with 3 person teams. Twist is 2 team members must make the last shot to close out a hole).
SEPTEMBER: "Super Class September" (Participants can only use PDGA Approved Super Class discs).
OCTOBER: "Awkward October" (Week 1: Cali League, Week 2: CTP League, Week 3: CTP League, Week 4: Ace Race League, Week 5: Ace Race League).
Note: A "virtual bag tag league" / "on-line only" test season will be conducted from September thru October. (I'll explain later)
NOVEMBER & DECEMBER: Focus on getting the details of the First Annual, 2015 DFOK Club Memberships ironed out.
DFOK members in attendance: Jon Tveite, Mark Kewley, Rob Belyea & me (Rick Petrie).
Sincerely,
Rick Petrie
Did you guys settle on a good number for punitive lashings per PDGA rule violation? I'm sure that was the hot topic, right?
Thanks for the update Rick. I wish I could have made it last night.
William, Thank you for the thanks. Not a problem, maybe you can make it next month (June 27th).
Yep Rob. We even voted you in as Cheif Lasher, hope that's okay.
But seriously (to all), far more time was spent at the meeting discussing how we can do a better job of educating new players the basic PDGA rules of play, without killing everyone's fun in the process.
