So there are apparently two new courses that are opening up or have opened up in Utah county. Beacon Hills Park, a new 28 hole course in Highland, Utah. This course is apparently a combo of baskets and pole holes. Course designer wants feedback to make it awesome. And apparently there is a course in Cedar Hills in Heritage Park. Just letting the peeps know.
18 not 28... Sorry for the typo.
This is awesome! I'll plan to go check these out as well. Once you have played it let me know what you think!
More info on these would be great as they are (I think) just a short drive away
So I went out and found the Beacon Hills Park. You can find the location here: https://maps.google.com/maps?q=40.453229,-111.801259&hl=en&sll=40.45311,-111.801018&sspn=0.002422,0.002411&t=h&z=17 It looks like this location had some great potential for an 18 hole course however ... more

No official tee pads or baskets yet. Itu2019s laid out with some signage and surveying stakes for each tee pad and pin location, but no baskets yet (except a portable on #18). Also holes 16-18 need some work as they play through some tight scrub oak that would need some clearing to provide flight paths (my opinion). I talked with the developer and for some short term improvements he is looking to have trash removed and trails improved. He said it would be a while before we see baskets there because he needs some donations. He really wants players to comment on hole layout before pads get installed.

Good to know.
What are the hole distances like?? How is the terrain?? Wide open?? Somewhat wooded?? Wooded??
For Beacon Hills I can't say for sure on the whole course. I only looked at the first couple holes which were wide open other than some houses to the far right. As for some of the back end holes, they currently are lined out in some thick scrub oak that in my opinion would need to be cleared out a bit. Overall the terrain here has what appears to be some really fun elevation changes and several holes play on or near grass. Not sure what future development of the park may hold. This course looks to have a good combination of some long bomber holes as well as some short technical ones. Of course its all subject to change based on player feedback for final layout.

There are some elevation changes here as well, but in my opinion the course could be laid out much better for the size and space of this park. I currently am trying to communication with the city of Cedar Hills to see what options they may consider for installing baskets and also if they would consider a layout change.
I don't see a map for Heritage Park and have a hard time wanting to try a park w/o one. Even if it is a tentative map, can someone can post it? There is a picture of the Beacon Hills map that looks like it'll work for playing a round that I'm hoping to get to playing on Saturday!
I played the front 9 at Beacon Hills yesterday and it seemed pretty well laid out to start with. I will probably recommend some minor changes to the layout for holes 4,5,6, but otherwise, the course map there seems good. I have not seen a course map for Heritage Park. I will probably recommend some minor changes to the layout for holes 4,5,6, but otherwise, the course map there seems good. I have not seen a course map for Heritage Park. Also note that there are no baskets there and it's just poles your throwing to. You could play the whole course with nothing but a putter. If I get some time I'll see if I can put together a map for Heritage Park. I'm also currently talking with the city for that course to see about adding baskets and or possible layout change.
