Ok I have had a few players and a few League admin ask when are Highlighted Leagues of the Week (HLW) starting and how do we know who,when and where?.....
We will update the MiCPS-S 2012 Schedule www.discgolfscene.com/leagues/DGLA_Michigan_Cooperative_Point_Series-Summer_2012/schedule by this Friday (May 24th), you can tell a league is a HLW if the date is highlighted and it shows "Double Points". The HLW will be from June 1st through the end of the Point Series - July 28th.
We are trying to avoid local tournament or two leagues in the same area on the same day. The schedule will be updated by Friday - get out your Disc Golf Planner and schedule your tour of as many of these awesome Michigan Disc Golf Leagues as possible..... Double Points Baby.....

DGLA has been looking at how to help leagues and clubs and make the league experience even better. We have been exploring partnering with some Disc Golf merchants to enhance the payouts and simplify the work of the League Admin by providing a wider selection of merch and resolve the logistics of getting stuff to players. The Throw Shop has stepped up to get this kicked off. We hope that we can grow and improve this idea to enable leagues and clubs to offer more without having to tie-up their cash, only to have to hold on to and transport merch that hopefully sells one day. More on this as it develops but bottom line players will have more choice to get what they need and want - well those DGLA Player members for now....
Ok so another quick reminder about limited time FREE DGLA membership - so no reason bot to show your support for Disc Golf Leagues, lock in your life time membership number we just crossed over 50 members which was my guess for this first year since we are not out promoting it other than here on the MiCPS-Summer 2012 pages - kind grass roots to give the Michigan Disc Golfers first shot. Don't you wish you had this opportunity with your PDGA# (OK a few of you have 4 digits but most of us are in the 5 digits and with DGLA we are talking 2 digits which to me means founding members who had a dream, who supported a vision and who made the difference - Oh and for free - bonus ;-).
Now if any of your league players want to help improve Mi Disc Golf course, get a membership Putter and Glow Mini and be eligible for awards based on their standing on the Members Only Leader board than for $30 you can upgrade to the Player level before June 15th. Who ever is on the Members only leaderboard at that point are the ones competing amongst themselves for all the booty. The rest will have to wait for the 2013 season for their next opportunity. To upgrade to Player member status - after you have activated your free membership you can upgrade online in your DGLA profile manager with PayPal or get with Scott or me (Foz). DGLA has a bunch of side projects underway if you are interested in any of these to provide ideas or to participate in makings a difference directly - let us know:
* League Management Utility - HTML, Javascript: registration through upload to DGS, electronic score cards (platform & internet independent..) Run a league from your phone or ipad...
* DGLA Newsletter - Editor, Additional Content ideas - course and league reviews, Disc Golf events, course projects...
* Course Design & Improvement
* Disc Golf Resource Directory - List of all business DG related - Reviews...
* DG League Tool Kit - Templates and ideas to help new & old leagues grow and improve
* Youth Disc Golf: School programs & Youth Leagues
* Web Development - My initial basic DGLA site needs an overhaul - anyone who wants to work together to help improve the site would be welcomed. HTML, Graphics, Javascript and/or Perl are much needed skills - Learn something new or help build your resume ;-)
* More Ideas?.... Trying to keep the focus on DG Leagues but most Disc Golf related items fit in so send us your ideas and interests.
