Chapter Seven: The Sdonalyasna of Alcantra
“The song sounded right... until it didn't.”
The hunters returned to Alcantra's long layout, joined by the new Hole 17 and Hole 18. Waiting among the trees were the Sdonalyasna, the mysterious people-stealers of Dena'ina legend.
They say the Sdonalyasna imitate birds and animals to lure victims closer. The trick is simple.
Everything sounds normal.
Until it doesn't.
And after what happened this week, there may have been more than birds being imitated.
???? A Tier — Justin Hears the Truth
While others followed strange sounds through the woods, Justin Foster seemed immune to the deception.
His incredible -10 earned a 1008-rated round, another elite performance in what has become an absurd run of high-rated golf.
Following behind:
Dave Rector — -5
Thomas Voight — -4
Isaiah Gall — -4
Jake Ratliff — -1
Morgan Leeds — -1
Justin wasn't just playing well.
He was playing like he knew exactly where the voices were coming from.
⚔️ B Tier — Something Isn't Right
The strangest story of the week may have come from B Tier.
David Griffin stormed through the course with a dominant -8, but witnesses reported something unusual.
Several players claim they saw the chains move to catch one of his putts.
Not a spit-in.
Not a lucky bounce.
The chains moved.
The Sdonalyasna have been known to lure victims with songs.
Nobody ever said they couldn't help a chosen hunter.
Behind Griffin:
Jeremy Ratliff — -7
Aaron Merideth — -3
Then there was...
Christopher Foley — +4
The Valley of Beasts would like to remind Christopher that disc golf is, in fact, the objective of the league.
Some observers have suggested a new hobby may be in order.
Following close behind:
Adam Fogelman — +5
Wayne Danjin — +6
Scott Bowen — +8
The woods were not kind.
???? C Tier — The Return of the Challenger
Larry Nunes — +3
Kevin Vacca — +4
Jerrin Fabrello — +9
The score may not show it, but the bigger story is Jerrin's return.
After injury, he's back and already talking about reclaiming the C-tier crown that once seemed firmly in his grasp.
The hunt isn't over yet.
❄️ D Tier — Still Standing
James Feldhausen — +9
Rheannon Fabrello — +10
While others chased monsters, these two simply survived another week in the Valley.
Sometimes that's enough.
???? Week 8 Preview — The Iliamna Lake Monster
Next week the hunt moves to Meier Lake — Long to Longs.
And yes...
Everyone already knows what's waiting beneath the surface.
The Iliamna Lake Monster.
For generations, fishermen have reported seeing something enormous moving beneath Alaska's largest lake. Nobody knows exactly what it is.
Only that it's there.
Watching.
Waiting.
And at Meier Lake, every disc that drifts too close to the water may leave players wondering...
Was that a bad throw?
Or did something move beneath the surface?
Two weeks remain.
Something is stirring below.
