Chapter Three: The Qalupalik Beneath the Lake
“Some things wait beneath the surface…”
The hunters of the Valley arrived at Meier Lake this week, and the water was calm.
Too calm.
The legends tell of the Qalupalik, a creature lurking beneath northern waters, waiting patiently for the careless. It doesn't chase. It doesn't roar. It simply waits for a mistake.
And at Meier Lake, mistakes were everywhere.
One bad tree kick. One missed putt. One disc drifting toward the water.
Then suddenly...
You're under.
???? A Tier — Jake Escapes the Depths
While others struggled against the pull of the lake, Jake Ratliff emerged from the water victorious.
A strong -7 earned him the top spot in A-tier and perhaps his biggest win of the season so far. The Qalupalik reached for him, but he slipped away.
Close behind:
Kelly Allen — -6, continuing his relentless pursuit of the top.
Morgan Leeds — -6, proving his winter hibernation is officially over.
Thomas Voight — -5, steady as ever.
Killian Flannery — -5, continuing his impressive appearances whenever he enters the fray.
The top card remains absolutely loaded.
⚔️ B Tier — Staying Above Water
The lake claimed plenty of victims, but Christopher Foley managed to stay afloat.
His -5 led the division and matched some of the best scores of the day.
Following close behind:
Jeremy Ratliff — -3
Rodney Stepp — -1
Alex Strawn — Even
Adam Fogelman — +3
The Qalupalik doesn't care how well you've been playing lately. One mistake and you're swimming.
???? C Tier — The Water Gets Deeper
The middle divisions found little mercy.
Kevin Vacca — +3, continuing to gain experience and confidence.
Wilson Jennings — +5
Larry Nunes — +6
Jon Rhine — +9
Some escaped with scratches.
Some were dragged deeper.
❄️ D Tier — The Survivors
Jax Ratliff — +8, continuing to lead the charge in D-tier.
Rheannon Fabrello — +10, proving once again that persistence matters more than perfection.
The Qalupalik feeds on panic.
Neither player gave it much to work with.
???? Week 4 Preview — The Ircenrraat
Next week the league returns to Alcantra.
But players should watch their discs carefully.
The creature waiting there is the Ircenrraat — Alaska's legendary Little People.
Mischievous. Invisible. Infuriating.
They're known for hiding tools, moving equipment, confusing travelers, and leading hunters astray.
At Alcantra, they may have found a new hobby:
You throw the perfect drive...
...and somehow your disc is 100 feet somewhere else.
Bad kicks. Strange rolls. Disappearing birdies.
The Ircenrraat are waiting.
Three weeks down.
Seven remain.
And the Valley is only getting stranger.
