Well, it turns out that to hold this at MBD we would need to complete a competitive event application. That requires a parking plan, a restroom facilities plan (aka portable toilet rental), a minimum fee of $110 (maybe more), and proof of liability insurance on the order of $500k. We missed the deadline to file for such an event, 60 days prior to it, but they are willing to work with us on that. However, if we filed an application today it would be Monday or Tuesday before we find out if we are approved. And we can't even file the application until we can prove we have the insurance.
The club can't afford all of those fees and I don't have the time to arrange the portable toilet and the insurance - which might be time wasted anyway, if we didn't get approved. So, my guess is that the club will stick with the Hudson Mills location for this year.
It sure would be nice if people got behind this and supported the Ace Race, rather than try to undermine it.
