It was a lively day out at the Goon. We played the 20-hole layout that Dan invented last year which adds two safari holes: tee of 6 to 7's yellow basket and tee of 8 to 9's yellow basket. These holes were far an away the hardest holes on the day and only saw a single birdie (shoutout to Scott for nabbing 20). Aside from these holes, it was a regular old Goon birdie+ace fest!
First - how about some shoutouts to the acers! Killian and Adam both nabbed aces to split the $159 ace pot. Way to throw Killian (hole 5) and Adam (hole 2)!
In A Pool, Scott took it to the Goon shooting a scorching -15 (unofficially 1029 rated) with zero bogeys. This is the highest rated round of league so far and only the 2nd 1000+ rated round in our 5 weeks to date (Beckner had the other one back in week 2). A few strokes off Scott's mark, but also bogey free was Frank at -11 (981 rated). Behind them were a three pack of A-poolers who had to split the rest of the cash scraps: Morgan, Killian, and Dan at -9 (957 rated). Killian was fine with it since he nabbed the ace. He must have felt charitable after the ace because he went +3 over holes 19 and 20, tying only Weslee at playing those holes the LEAST skillfully of all players on the day.
In B Pool, Naz and Adam battled hard for glory but came out equal at -8 (945 rated). Naz only carded a single bogey to Adam's two, but Adam was much better at throwing aces than Naz. Behind them was Loren at -7 (933 rated), Britton at -5 (909 rated), and Chung + Samm at -4 each (897 rated).
In C Pool, Jeremy and Matt had another battle. So far their league head to head is 2-1-1 with Matt leading. But this time Jeremy came out on top at +6 to take the pool win. Matthew (+7) took the remaining cash scraps, narrowly keeping Eli penniless due to their 1 stroke differential.
Assuming the forecast holds, we'll be back at Davis next week. Hope to see you out there!
