Hi players,
We are one week out from the Playa Lucia Open, WE'RE SO EXCITED TO HOST YOU ALL!!! As we near the event, we need to share an important update that we were made aware of yesterday regarding a major road closure that will affect arrival times + how info on how it could affect your round
IMPORTANT – ROAD CLOSURE AFFECTING ACCESS TO PLAYA LUCIA
There will be a major traffic impact from December 1–19, 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, on the main route from eastern PR (Humacao → Yabucoa)
The bridge along this direction will be completely closed.
PLEASE PLAN EXTRA TRAVEL TIME. These delays will add a minimum of 20 minutes!! We strongly recommend using Waze (google doesn't always reflect road closures here) and reviewing the alternate routes below.
ALTERNATE ROUTES
Option 1
Take Exit 35A (after the Humacao South toll on PR-53)
Left onto PR-906 → to PR-3
Continue toward downtown Yabucoa
Left onto PR-901
Continue west to PR-9914
Option 2
Take Exit 39 off PR-53
Left onto PR-906
Left again onto PR-3
Continue south toward downtown Yabucoa
Left onto PR-901
Continue west to PR-9914
Please check your expected route before tournament day, as delays are likely during the tournament hours. Closures are during the daylight hours.
TEE TIME & CHECK-IN REMINDERS (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY)
This event uses staggered tee times (tee time start) - Please be sure you understand the following requirements:
Player Responsibilities
You must check in at Tournament Central (located near hole 3) before going to the starter at Hole 1 to start your round
It is the players responsibility to know course rules (Caddy-Book, QR on Hole Signs, PDGA Live) your tee time, and be at your starting hole on time and ready to play
Players may warm up only in designated areas
The course is closed for practice during competitive rounds unless otherwise stated by the TD
Tee Time Presence Requirements: Absences, Lateness & Drops
Any player who does not check in at Tournament Central by the specified time forfeits their spot and their entry fee (As per PDGA 1.03.F, day-of drops receive no refund, even if filled by a waitlister.)
All players must check in with the starter no less than 5 minutes before their scheduled tee time and remain at the starting hole for the 5 minutes prior to their start
Failure to check in with the starter by this time results in two penalty strokes added to the starting hole
If a player is absent for the first hole under PDGA 811.F.5 (Misplay), that misplay penalty replaces the two-stroke penalty—only the misplay applies
A player who is late to their starting hole or any subsequent hole has committed a misplay and may be penalized or disqualified at the TD’s discretion
