Absolutely stunning weather for week 1, and a great turnout to boot! Matt Mourovic sweetened the first week with a surprise CTP disc, which was hit by Becka Powers!
I managed to take down A Pool as my putter was blessed by a wood nymph, hitting a 50-foot downhill putt on hole 1 and never really looking back, finishing with a bogey-free 9 under. Nick Reilly came in second with 6-under, grabbing the only eagle on hole 12.
B Pool went to the mats, literally, with the Matts tying each other at -1. Mourovic almost parlayed his good karma from donating the CTP into a sick ace on hole 10 - he hit dead center of the chains, and spit out.
C Pool was all on the same card, and they were troopers, finishing the last three holes in the twilight's last gleaming. Nicki Powers took it down by 4 strokes, with a relatively clean round. As noted above, Becka grabbed the birdie on hole 16 but also chained out for the ace on that hole! She tied for second with Katie Barrett, who I believe was playing her first sanctioned round ever.
