Here is a list of times Alex Owens has updated us with false information:
1. On October 15th, He told us PayPal had released $2880 and that PayPal was releasing $240-$480 (2-4 transactions) a day. According to this math, he would have received between $4560-$6240 by October 22nd, and would have received $6720 (at minimum) by today the 31st. So, at this point, according to his October 15th post, all refunds should have processed and all am teams that placed should have received their scrip last week. Yet he has not sent out am scrip nor resolved all the refunds. Additionally, by today he would have had enough to start sending out pro winnings as well.
2. On October 5th, he promised everything would be resolved (with everyone being paid) by the end of day October 8th.
3. On September 27th, he claimed that he could not add the results of the tournament to Disc Golf Scene because he was waiting for the refunds to clear. He could have posted scores with the teams that didn't play as getting no score, or as a DNF, or he could have just uploaded a picture. He finally posted text of tournament results on October 15th but conveniently left off the winning amounts for each team so that nobody would know how much he owed them.
4. On September 26th, he said "I submitted a line of credit to cover this all until PayPal can figure things out". He never mentioned this again.
5. On September 23rd, he said he would "have this handled fully by tomorrow evening, with either PayPal figuring it out, or myself pulling credit to cover it until they do." So he promised to have it completely solved by September 24th.
6. On September 23rd, he claimed he was unable to contact us via mass email because our email addresses were incorrect. We all received the email from him about the tournament on September 4th. Therefore, he had all our email addresses correct. Furthermore, he could just hit reply all to this email
7. On September 20th, he said he still could not access the funds but that Shaun would send the Gem Discs codes immediately when he got back from being out of town. He also told Pros to watch for their payouts over the next 24 hours. No one got scrip from Shaun after he "got back from being out of town" and pros did not receive their payouts in the next 24 hours.
8. On September 17th, he said that Amateur scrip would still be sent out by Gem Discs by end of day September 18th. No one got their scrip.
9. On September 13th, he said scrip would be coming from Infinite Discs. He claimed that he had reached out to Infinite Discs for the scrip and they left him hanging. Infinite Discs was contacted and they said he never had a deal with them for the scrip, and that he never made an inquiry with them.
10. On September 12th, he said tournament results would be posted by end of day. Results were never posted.
11. On September 7th, at the tournament, he told everyone that day 1 results would be posted in the evening. Day 1 tournament results were never posted.
12. On September 4th, in the email he sent out, he told everyone that trophies would be in by September 22nd at the latest (and that people wouldn't have to wait like last year). Trophy updates were as follows: “Trophies are being finalized and sent to me" - Alex Owens September 17th 2024
"Trophies will be on the way and ready to go out" - Alex Owens September 23rd 2024
"Trophies are getting the final touches and will be out to me anyday" -Alex Owens September 26th 2024
"Trophies are finished and heading out this way" -Alex Owens October 5th 2024
"These (trophies) will be here shortly!" - Alex Owens October 7th 2024
"Trophies will start going out this weekend" - Alex Owens October 15th, 2024
According to Orbital Creations, he finally paid half of the balance owed for them on October 28th.
So on October 5th he told us they were being shipped and then went no contact with the supplier for three weeks while continuing to lie to us. Furthermore he only paid half of the balance owed for the trophies after seeing Brad post about them being recycled.
13. On September 4th, he said to anyone needing a refund that "refunds will be processed during the event" the event was September 7th and 8th. So he promised that refunds would be processed by the 8th. There are people who never played the event still waiting for a refund.
14. On July 10th, he told us there would be players packs. "There will at least be dri fits like last year, but I'm working on a few other cool things as well!" We didn't get players packs. On September 5th (two days before the event), he said, "Dri fits dropped out last moment with DD not wanting to donate them." There was no further mention of "other cool things" that he previously hinted at. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if dynamic discs was contacted that they would say Alex never reached out to them.
15. On July 9th, when asked what the second course would be, he said "Wanting to do Veterans. If it's not approved, we will go with Kuna." Multiple people asked for updates for two months and he ignored them all. On September 1st (in response to someone asking what the second course would be) he said "Finalizing everything today, and will be posted tomorrow morning". He didn't tell anyone anything on September 2nd. He waited until September 4th to tell us there would be no second course 2 months after assuring us he had a plan and a backup plan for the second course.
