Short answer: Yes. Longer answer: There is no ratings cap on MA1, MA40, MA50, or any of the age-protected divisions. (For example, if you look at the current reg for Ledgestone right now, the top-rated MA40 players are rated 963 and 954.) More background answer: previous to a change a few years ago, the titles of some of the amateur divisions were: Advanced (now MA1), Advanced Masters (now MA40), Advanced Grandmasters (now MA50), Intermediate (now MA2), Recreational (now MA3) and Novice (now MA4). Those last three divisions listed had (and still have) ratings caps. For example, a player rated 900 or above cannot play MA4 or MA3 and must play MA2 or above (including MA40, MA50, etc, if the player is old enough. Also, this is why the World Championships for age 40 and up are called "Masters" Worlds and there are other "Masters" events for age 40 and up only (or, technically, for those whose birth year was at least 40 years ago).
