Ox Bow Update 3/1/23
I spoke with ECPD leadership today. We will use the 20-hole layout I spoke of earlier. I am also happy to announce that the parks department will have the auxiliary gate open Friday morning for practice on the alternate layout. The gate will be open all day.
Holes and OB are already marked. We will use a variety of temporary baskets on Saturday (I cleared this with the PDGA on Tuesday), but those baskets will not be set up by Friday. Use the descriptions below to navigate the course. All temp holes are marked with orange paint and a flag. Follow the arrows for the best routes.
Course details (footage marked for alternate holes)
1- Over the orange line, on or over the road is OB. Follow arrows to hole A.
A - 167 feet. Stable shelter hole. Tee from cement. Basket will be behind the volleyball net. On or in the shelter or bathroom is OB. Play hole 2 next.
2S - 250 feet to short pin just beyond the giant log to the right of the fairway.
3 - After completing the hole follow the orange arrows to the road where you will find hole B. We will not play holes 4 or 5.
B - 205 feet. Down the road, soft RHBH hyzer to an opening in the treeline. Follow the arrows to hole C.
C - 200 feet. Farmstead shelter hole. Straight shot. Basket between tree and water pump. Road is in play. In or on the shelter is OB. Follow arrows to hole 6.
6 - No OB.
7 - No OB.
8 - Everyone plays from the long tee. Communicate with the group in front and/or behind you so that there is no one throwing on another disc golfer. We will not play holes 9-13. To play 14, once hole is complete, doubleback down fairway, follow arrows behind 16 tee pad, proceed with caution “Eyes Up” as you move across 14 and 15 playing areas, walk behind 15 tee pad, down 5 fairway and following painted arrows along the way as you walk down the start of hole 14 to the tee pad.
14 - Watch for disc golfers navigating their way across hole 14. Communicate with all disc golfers around you.
15 - Watch for disc golfers navigating their way between 14 and 15. They will be coming behind your tee to get to 5 fairway and on their way to 14.
16S - 227 feet. Short pin (2004 pin placement) behind the large tree on the right side of the fairway.
17S - 202 feet. Short pin just behind the original basket placement between the three trees. Everyone tee from the platform.
18 - No OB.
19 - Over the fence and into Ox Bow elementary property is OB. Parking area is in-bounds.
20 - Over the fence and into Ox Bow elementary property is OB.
21 - Over the fence and into the Ox Bow maintenance area is OB.
22 - Over the fence and into the Ox Bow maintenance area is OB.
23 - The road is in-bounds.
24 - The road and parking area is in-bounds. Play it where it lies.
All of this is subject to change should circumstances beyond our control affect the terrain.
