The Crew Cup Disc Golf Tournament Update
1. COURSE INFO:
a. LAYOUT: We will be playing the 18 holes of The Woodland Trail and 3 holes from Bixler East Park for a total of 21 holes each round. We extended this because of the high interest in this tournament. As of today, we have 77 registered with a total of 84 spots available. You will play holes 1-14 on the Woodland Trail, then walk over to hole 5 at Bixler East and play holes 5, 6, and 7. After playing hole 7, you will get back onto The Woodland Trail at hole 15 and finish through hole 18. This layout will be on U-Disc by September 25th. We will be mowing the course 1 week prior to the event.
b. TEE PADS: There will be two sets of tee pads. White and Red. Red tee pads will be used for FA1 and MA4. They will be leveled out and will have pavers/stepping stones. They will play shorter than whites with less gaps ahead of you. White tee pads will be used for MA 1, 2, & 3. They will be leveled out and will have gravel compacted with a rubber mat on top of the gravel. There will be spray painted lines that mark the spot you can throw from to prevent confusion, as they are temporary pads. I goal is to make a legitimate tee pad that won’t cause problems when throwing. We had hoped to have concrete in on the white tee pad areas, but due to time and cost we will not get to that point by Oct. 15th.
c. OUT OF BOUNDS/MANDOS: There will be no mandatories on this course. Out of bounds will be marked on the map (sent out the week before the tournament) and also will be included in the live digital scoring app. Please be sure to check for OB in the app before teeing off each hole. This course has minimal OB, but it is out there, especially on the three park holes we are adding.
2. LOGISTICS:
a. PLAYER REGISTRATION/SIGN IN: We will not accept walk-ups. This is a pre-register only event. Players who registered will check in at the maintenance building of the Kendallville Sports Complex (524 S Allen Chapel Rd, Kendallville, IN 46755) between 7:45 – 8:20 AM. At check-in, you will receive info on who has sponsored this event and a mini marker (Aluminum ‘Bad Apple’ mini). You will also have an opportunity to purchase tickets to our raffle items along with CTP, Ace Fund, and more. Raffle prizes will be drawn at the completion of round 2.
b. PLAYER’S MEETING & TEEING OFF: Player’s meeting is required to be at and will start promptly at 8:35 AM at the maintenance building. Because this course has some holes that are a little further out, we want to be sure everyone has adequate time to get to their holes and be ready to go. You will receive a two-minute warning announcement, then a tee off announcement. We will tee off at 9:00 AM promptly.
c. PAYOUTS & PRIZES: Payouts will be done through the Michiana Pro Shop. They will be on site. You will receive a gift card with the amount you won in payouts. You are welcome to purchase on site or hold on to it for a later time. CTP prizes will be given out at the completion of round two. Ace Fund and 50/50 CTP will be sent via Paypal.
d. RESTROOMS: This year we have rented out portable restroom. There are two restrooms with it and they are very clean and nice. The Bixler East Park restrooms will be open as well.
e. SCORECARDS/GROUPS: We will be utilizing the PDGA Live Digital Score Cards. We will also have printed paper cards if that is what you prefer. Two people on one card should keep score for accuracy and accountability. Round one will be a random draw on who is grouped together. You cannot request to be with any one person or any one starting hole. Round two you will be playing with those who scored closest to you. The top 4 scores from round one will play together on hole one and so on. You will receive your Scorecard group and hole number 1-2 days prior to the event. PLEASE plan the night before or morning of on how you can best get to your starting hole. There will be signage, but it can get confusing if you do not know the course. There are parking lots closer to certain holes so it may be beneficial to drive over to those spots after the players meeting. You are responsible for getting there before 9:00 AM. Please ask at check in if you need direction.
f. VENDORS & FOOD: Michiana Pro Shop will be on site vending this event. We are currently working on a food option for this event. We will most likely have an option on site for lunch. There are local restaurants in Kendallville nearby as well. You will have a 1-hour lunch break. During the lunch break we will have an optional putting challenge sponsored by DiscDot. It is free to participate and includes a prize to the winner.
I am sure I am missing something in all of this, but more information will come as the tournament comes closer! Thanks for registering for this event!!
