Dynamic Discs offers $250 worth of gift cards for prizes. Typically this is given to just one overall winner. However, I decided to split up the prize to allow for various divisions. This was intended to encourage players of all abilities, as well as women and junior players, to sign up. To the end, that was successful. The intention behind giving larger prizes to higher divisions was to encourage players to challenge themselves to a higher division and to prevent players from playing in lower divisions than their ability. Since this event is not sanctioned and most players do not have PDGA ratings, it is difficult to enforce divisions. In hindsight, the number of players who signed up in each division does likely warrant a different share of the gift cards than I originally had set out, and I do apologize. However, the prizes were advertised from the outset and it would not be right to change the prizes after the fact. It is for this reason that I made it clear in the player information that the players can still adjust their division if they wish to compete for a larger prize. This is my first time running this event, and I apologize if I have not necessarily handled this element of the event perfectly, and I promise to make the right changes for future events. I still believe the event offers excellent value for money for all players regardless of the prizes available and I hope that everyone can enjoy the event as such.
