Golfers ( FIRE- TRAVEL UPDATE)
Last night there was a grass fire in Sonora. Local Cal Fire crews attended the fire overnight, and it is being held within fire lines. Sonora is a fair distance from Twain Harte with a lot of defensible space in between. There is no concern that this fire will expand to imperil either of the courses.
Highway 108 is currently closed between Jamestown and Sonora. The online maps are all recommending bypassing the area via Campo Seco Road – turn right at the first gas station in Jamestown, and take Bell Moony Road to Campo Seco Road. Campo Seco will return to Highway 108 at Sonora. You will have smooth sailing from there.
It is currently off and on smoky in Twain Harte and Sonora. As the fire in Sonora is dealt with, I expect it to clear up. It is not currently a health risk. We will continue to monitor.
As of now, the tournament is still scheduled. I expect to be able to continue. We will update you if conditions change, via email and discgolfscene.
