Hi, folks! Amazingly, no one hit an ace in the leagues this year - I'm thinking once everything has settled down, or maybe before it's settled down but while we are still keeping a safe distance, we can figure out how to pay this out. (I'd rather do that than roll it over to sanctioned singles for next year.) This is not part of the rated part of the league so I think we can do this without the PDGA.

One idea I've had is to have a CTP, and give people extra throws based on the number of times they attended league. Another thing that could be fun is maybe a final 16 where the top point-getters in the league play 9 holes, and then we take the top 8 and have them play 9 holes, and so on until there's a top 2, who play for a 70-30 split. Happy to hear other ideas!

I think the Davis Park averages are interesting since it's a newer course - looks like Blue 5, 6, and 7 are all legit par 4s according to our averages!

PDGA won't be sanctioning any events through March 31, bottom line.

I may or may not come out myself but a) I think even if a lot of people are out on the course, that is completely consistent with social distancing, and b) PDGA can't stop us from having an unsanctioned competition.

Since we were all planning on getting out to PC at 11am Saturday, seems like we should sort of keep that plan and play some unsanctioned singles or doubles. Let me know what you think.

I may or may not come out myself but a) I think even if a lot of people are out on the course, that is completely consistent with social distancing, and b) PDGA can't stop us from having an unsanctioned competition.

I've just been informed that Boyd and Cory have dug out the tees at Peter's Creek - to be clear this is not tomorrow, but 3/21, last league week, we will be playing at Peter's Creek.

Thanks to all the folks who have kept the tees clean this winter! I've headed out a few times before the rounds particularly at Davis Park, ready to make sure the boxes are clear, and had nothing to do. With the amount of snow this winter, it's really a privilege to be able to get good footing on drives.

Just in case you're wondering, it's on at Davis! However, due to coronavirus I will not be allowing cards of greater than 500 people. So if too many people show up this week, I will be capping the field size at 4,500. I also encourage you all to forgo the traditional eyeball licking of all your cardmates before throwing on hole 18 to congratulate them on a good round. Just verbally inform the folks that it was a good round. Flatten the curve!

The birdies were flying out at Westchester this week! Wonder if it being 20 instead of 0 had something to do with that? James Beckner took down A Pool with a blazing hot 42, nudging out Scott Johnson and Jarod O'Brien, who shot also-excellent 44 and 45, respectively. John "first things first I'm" Delreal(est) took down B-pool with a 47, and Julia Musser took last place in C pool with an efficiently-shot 61.

Hole-by-hole stats are updated for the league - you can look at weekly scores, and now there are tabs for each course, so you can see the season-long statistics. Not sure what the weather was like week 5 and 6, but it sounds like this will be the first Winter League that I'll get to play where it won't be in the single digits or warm and melty. Nice, normal 20 degrees forecast. Maybe even a little light snow falling to set the mood for some steamy birdies out at the 'Goon on Saturday.

I know it has been cold these first weeks of league, but if I could make a request that people try to stick around for payouts - particularly in the B pool, it's been almost every week that someone has left early thinking they were out of the money. I'll do my best to get them out as soon as I have the last card in. It's tough out there in the snow, so what may seem like a pretty lousy 52 at Westchester Lagoon might end up being good for second place. I'd rather not hold on to payouts until the following week!

Cash note: I owe the top 3 in B Pool some money - I thought there were 5 folks in B pool, but there were really 6.

I'll be in Las Vegas, gambling away B Pool's $5 the next two weeks - Boyd may not know it yet but he'l be running the league. (Seriously though if he can't, we'll find someone else.)

Something was in the air/snow this week - 12 souls made it out to Davis this week, but only a few of them could have been accused of playing disc golf. Temps started out around 0, even warmer than Week 1, but the course played about 25 ratings points harder according to the PDGA.

James Beckner took down A Pool again, with a 56 despite a lost disc on the last hole. John Delreal grabbed B pool by 5 strokes with a 57, and Julia Musser won her second straight C pool with a hard-fought 80.

Scores are up on PDGA - for some reason even when I enter the scores here on DiscGolfScene, they're not showing up on the leaderboards. Message me if you have any questions.

We've had some surprisingly high scores these first few weeks, so I would encourage you to stick around for payouts even if you think there's no way! Forecast for next week is upper 20s, so hopefully we'll get a good crowd at the Lagoon!

Unless I'm told otherwise, starting this week I am collecting an extra $3 from anyone who has not re-upped ADGA membership. You can always re-up with me this week!

Try to get cash in by 11; when it's this cold, I will usually be sitting in my car, which is a red Subie with a Settlers of Catan sticker on it. The guy sitting in the white van with half its bumper hanging off is NOT me.

We had a little discussion the last couple of weeks on this point, just to keep everyone on the same page: you are NOT allowed to intentionally knock snow off a branch in order to secure a better line for a putt or really for any disc golf related reason at all. If you're just trying to cover your cardmates with snow, that's cool.

Great round out there at Westchester Lagoon for Week 2 of the league. Picking up A Pool first in a playoff was James Beckner, who sort of won by default when Joe Schacht lost a disc on the first playoff hole. Disappointing way to end; I think we were all hoping to see those two match each other birdie for birdie for hours out in the beautiful weather. Joe Caissie also picked up third by default when the other two folks who tied for third with a 49 left early.

B Pool was taken down by a couple of newcomers, Will and John. Will put down a 49, with just one bogey!

Julia Musser grabbed the C Pool to keep her winning streak alive!

Seriously, everyone, thanks for coming out! It was extremely cold and having good numbers makes it worth playing. There may be some news about the ace pool next week - rumor is we still have some leftover money from last winter league!

OK so it's going to be cold out there again this week, but maybe we'll get some sea breeze coming off Cook Inlet and keep it in the positive numbers out at Westchester Lagoon. Come on out! Pick up that big $6 ace pot on hole 8! Once we got moving last week I was able to feel my toes for the majority of the round.

Folks who know, how are the teepads? Seems like at some point during the winter they just covered with snow for good, but if they're salvageable, I'll get out there before the round to make sure they're in the best shape possible.

A hearty crew of 6 warriors made it out this week, starting the round in -8 degree temps. Birdies were hard to come by and trees were easy to find, but James Beckner managed to take down the A division with a 50. Adam Cooper outlasted Jeremy Boyd with a 61 to take down the B division.

See you all next week at Westchester! Current forecast is for 6 degrees for the high, but with the sun and humidity the heat index will make it feel like 10.

Good news everyone, the high temp Saturday is now supposed to be a balmy 4 degrees, rather than a frigid and unacceptable 2. Hope to see everyone out there - if I remember the cutoffs correctly, we'll be doing an A, B, and C pool with <800, between 800 and 900, and >900. I'll try and get out there early to make sure the teepads are clear.
