Thank you to all 70 players who played the Schenley Finals on Sunday! Thanks to Eden Gonano for bringing the Sunday Devotional League to Schenley Park this week. Once again, big thank you to Dave "Wolf" Wolfrey for providing lunch from Mission BBQ! I heard nothing but great things about the food. Thank you to Raana Flemm and Meghan Mach for assisting with counting scorecards, checking in players, and setting up for lunch.

Thanks also go out to our course promoters: Mark Prestopnik, Vince Mach, and Lenny Mancinelli, and well as everyone who volunteered on work days. The course was in top shape over the entire season and looked fantastic for the finals.

Congratulations to Maria Montano! With 413 points on the season, Maria is our 2018 Women's Champion. Also to Mark Prestopnik, who along with his Second Place finish, edged out the rest of the pack to take the Best Average Score prize with an impressive 46.909 average from the white tees.

I should have all the scores posted from the two rounds of the Finals by tomorrow. Thank you to everyone who came out this year. It was a pleasure organizing the league and meeting so many great people. I hope to see you all back for more in 2019!

Finals - Sunday, October 7, 2018 - Rain or shine, but will be canceled in the event of thunder and lightning.

Sign in will be from 9:00 to 9:30 AM at the Overlook Shelter, which is near the #4 teepad. The finals will coincide with the Sunday Devotional League, so please arrive early and expect a large turnout. All players will be assigned groups and starting tees and will tee off at 10:00 AM. The event will be limited to 72 players on a first come, first serve basis.

Format: first round blue tees, second round white tees. The entry fee is the usual $4 + $1 for the ace pot. If you plan to participate in Sunday Devotional there are additional entry fees, which will be collected by Eden Gonano.

Refreshments: After the first round, lunch will be provided at no additional charge. HUGE thanks to Dave "Wolf" Wolfrey from Mission BBQ in Robinson, who is supplying brisket and chicken sandwiches, kettle chips, and water, along with some vegetarian options. Mission BBQ opened this summer on Steubenville Pike in Robinson and serves AMAZING food! Check them out next time you're in the area.

Prizes: There will be two CTP holes each round. Prizes include discs courtesy of Grip It and Rip It Disc Golf LLC., a $25 gift card for D-town Disc Golf and a $50 gift card for Mission BBQ in Robinson. After the second round we will meet at the #4 red tee and throw for more prizes, courtesy of Pittsburgh Flying Disc. If no aces are hit during the tournament, we'll throw off for the ace pot as well. If no aces are hit during the throw off, the pot will be held until next season.

Payouts: Cash and prizes will be given out at the end of the day to the top of the field, as well as the season's top league players. Any players who have remaining balances from previous league rounds may also collect at the end of the tournament.

It's hard to believe but we're already near the end of the season! There are only a few Wednesday sessions left, and then the finals. I thought this would be a good time to share the details of the rest of the season.

The league round on September 5 will be played from the White Tees. As we've experienced in past seasons, there's just not enough daylight for a Blue Tee round in September with our normal start time. Weather permitting, we will play every Wednesday up to and including October 3.

The League Final will be held Sunday, October 7 with sign-ins starting at 9:00 and everyone teeing off at 10:00. The final will include two rounds: one from the blue tees, one from the white tees. Cash and prizes will be awarded at the end of the second round, including some fun contests so I can give away all the unclaimed lost items that have been turned in throughout the season. More details will be given as we get closer to the date.

Just a reminder that on July 4, our Schenley Park Wednesday Night League round will be held in the morning. Sign-in will be from 9:30 to 10AM and since it's the first week of the month we will be playing from the blue tees. In addition someone will win a $25 gift card to D-town Disc Golf Golf as a CTP prize! The CTP hole will be announced the week of the round. Visit D-town at https://www.discgolfmarket.com/. Players are encouraged to stick around, because as soon as the last card is finished, we will draw random partners and play doubles from the white tees. Entry will be $5 per person, with 100% payout to the top 1/3 of the field. In addition, there will also be a team CTP prize! Because of the holiday, we're going to make the July 4 league round an early session. Sign-ins will be from 9:30 to 10AM, and since it's the first Wednesday of the month, we'll play from the blue tees. When the last group finishes, we will meet up at the practice basket and draw teams for doubles from the white tees. Doubles will be $5 per person, and we'll pay out the top 1/3 finishing teams (handicaps will not be applied to the doubles round). Everyone is invited to play either round, but definitely encouraged to play both!

Entry fees paid in that day can be applied towards a future round. Please remind me when you sign in; I have a list of everyone who is owed a round.

Since a few people have inquired about earlier start times, players will be allowed to start rounds from 3:45 to 4:15 PM and may check in and pay AFTER the round is complete. The stipulation is that groups must still consist of 3-5 players and ALL PLAYERS MUST SIGN IN and pay at the normal check-in time (5:00-5:45). Players will not be permitted to sign in and pay on behalf of others - the entire card must be present at check-in. If all participants from the card do not individually sign in, none of the scores on the card will be recorded. This is the best way I can think of to prevent someone who is not satisfied with their score from just leaving without paying. We'll try this for a few weeks. If enough people participate we'll keep it going throughout the year. If there's cheating or simply not enough interest, early starts will be discontinued.

League coordinators will not be present at the early start time window, so once you have a group together, go ahead and tee off. Just be sure that all players on the card personally check in and pay before leaving. I'll provide scorecards for future early rounds upon request.
