I could go on and on about the closing of Sunnybrook. Let's just say that Randy and his staff created an opportunity for us that I will personally be forever thankful. We started a putting league and now there are so many others out there following what we created and it was all due to Sunnybrook giving us that chance. Once we were inside the Sunnybrook family, they allowed us to install a course that for the past 5 years we have been able to run tournaments on. Sunnybrook truly treated us like family and we owe them our gratitude for allowing us to expand the sport beyond what I originally imagined. We were blessed to have them allow us to play in their back yards and enjoy so many good memories. Double Tap was one of them and we are hoping to add a new twist to that this year. "Spank the Monkey" is another great memory that comes to mind and will definitely be missed by many.
Fast forward to today, and looking at many venues to host our league, we have settled on a location. Looking at all of the opportunities we had, 5 Star Lanes's location was a selling factor because I know many of you travel far to get here. 5 Star Lanes is on south Big Beaver road just east of Dequindre. They have opened up their doors to us and we couldn't be happier. This is NOT Sunnybrook and we do not have a huge banquet room however, they do have a very nice bar that can accommodate 5 courts. they do have a very clean environment with a newly blacktopped parking lot. They do have an awesome beer selection and are willing to collect suggestions on getting more fine Michigan craft beers. Their food selection is very good and the restaurant room sits more than a couple of people who want to eat where the food is made. They also have a second bar that sits about 40 people who are not playing. Their bathrooms are all newly remodeled. The entire staff has already heard that we are moving in and are excited to have us. We couldn't ask for anything more to be honest. So, let's give 5 Star some of our Motor City Chain Gang love and treat them as nice as we treated Sunnybrook.
