A GREAT TIME in AuGres with 20 players, thanks to all that came and played. Could the weather have been any more superior ? Congrats to Joe Caldwell and Chris DeRosier for both scoring 59 to record low scores for the day. Jason Mathe took the top points for the entire summer. Great job to all winners. Almost everyone walked away with some type of prize, thanks to a generous trunk load of contributions ranging from $150.00 cash added, meal gift certificates, grilling sets, kayak rentals and more.from the local businesses. An extreme thank you goes to Anytime Taxi, Northern Automotive, Ali's Up North, Lynch Produce, City of AuGres Riverfront Campground, Modern Craft Winery, Walkers Insurance and The City of AuGres Council, Mayor, City Manager and all of the office staff. The format we played was random draw doubles for 10 holes (1-9 & 20) and single play for 10 holes (10-19). Was it fun or not ? Did it work better or as well as playing 20 holes dubs and 20 holes as singles with lunch in between ?

If you have participated in the weekly random draw doubles or the Ace Race at Old Airport thanks for being a great supporter and you are invited to attend the Disc-Ciples Summer Peace Tour Finale at Old Airport DGC.

Here is the format for the day. We will pick partners as usual and then all teams will play holes 1 through 9 and hole 20 as a team. Once entering the woods at hole 10, ALL players will
then be playing individual and scoring on a new score card for holes 10 through 19. The total score for your first 10 holes as partners will be added to the 10 individually played holes to determine the finishing order. This should be fun.

In addition, if you take a look at the leader board on Disc Golf Scene you'll see that I have added a point system for each week that we had an official gather and turnout of 3 people or more. Winners got 5 points, then 4, 3, 2 & 1 for the respective finish. At year end, Jason Mathe was on top with 38 points followed closely by Alex Wilk & myself. Now you all remember the 2 disc prize package that was offered throughout play for a deuce on holes 3,9 & 20 ? So this Sunday these 3 top points scorers will be the only 3 playing for those 2 discs that were the deuce prize. Best finisher of the three will get first choice of the two discs, 2nd place takes remaining disc and 3rd place gets squat.

Tee off will be noon this coming Sunday the 25th, sign in by 11:45. Each player will be paying only $1.00 to play with all dollars going into the donation post for the course fund.
Additionally, we will have a $2.00 ace pool for that day, paid out with a CTP throw off on hole 7 if no ace is hit. I will also have a least one disc for a CTP. There are some players that I don't have an email for so please spread the word.



Payout will be the entire $120.00 Ace Pool and paid out to 8 spots.

Anyone and everyone is welcome to play a singles cali round this Sunday at Old Airport DGC, tee off at noon. $5.00 buy in with an optional $1.00 Ace Pool and $1.00 CTP hole for the day. Ace pool is at $70.00. For this cali round, if you hit an ace with a second throw, you'll only get 1/2 of the ace pool. A first shot ace takes it all. 5 players are having a shootout for one remaining Berth by playing one round of cali singles, all others joining in will just be for the payout, CTP and Ace Pool.

This coming Sunday will be normal random draw doubles with the exception that players will have the option to buy into a chance to win a Berth to the Discraft Michigan State Championships in Ludington September 3-4. Here's how it will all shake out - PDGA Rules will be followed. Participants MUST decide and pay prior to the random draw. A minimum of 3 to 7 players are needed to pay an additional fee of $5.00 allowing you to play for a chance to win a Berth. With 8 players paying, an additional berth will be added (maximum of 2 berths regardless). If there is only 1 Berth available and the winning team has two paid into the Berth competition, both players will compete in a 9 hole shootout. If tied after 9 holes, they will continue starting again on hole one until a winner for the Berth is determined. If there are 2 Berths available, it could be possible for the second place finisher to get one of the Berths and possibly another 9 hole shootout would be necessary to decide the final winners. The normal doubles is $5.00 to play with $1.00 of that going into the donation box. There is an optional $1.00 accumulating ace pool and a weekly optional $1.00 CTP. So bottom line is $10.00 to play for the Berth and the days winning payout, optional $2.00 for Ace and CTP. IMPORTANT UPDATE - the course just received a dump truck load of diamond dust for use in filling in tee pads and creating a much safer alternative until cement pads arrive. PLEASE TAKE NOTE - ANY ALTERING, CUTTING OR DAMAGING OF ANY LIVING TREE, SHRUBBERY OR BRANCHES IS FORBIDDEN AND MAY RESULT IN PROSECUTION. If playing the course and you witness any destruction, report it to the local police or the City of AuGres. As concerned players and representatives for ALL disc golfers, take a few extra minutes to pick up some trash, fallen sticks or debris and make certain to carry out or properly dispose of what you carry in.

COURSE UPDATE - Old Airport DGC is as dry as it's ever been in mid May. Grounds keeper Ron has Saturday scheduled as the 1st day to cut the grass with the recently reconditioned Kubota tractor. If there are interested volunteers, plan on coming out the the course Saturday and Ron will advise you on what needs to be done to make it all better than 2015. And if you're not an interested volunteer, just get yourself out to this great twenty hole, challenging disc golf course. Make certain to stop by Pier 23 at 2490 East Huron in AuGres for all of your Subway, gas or beverage needs. Pier 23 is the 2016 scorecard sponsor, thank you Dale Weiss. Old Airport Sunday Dubs ended the regular season and will having a final
get together on Sunday September 27th. open to all and any
player that has played a Sunday 2015 Dubs, The Tournament For
Teepads or The Discraft Ace Race.

Here's the plan.
We will play a singles round teeing off at 10:00 and if voted in,
it may be a cali round, the group can decide.

Hotdogs for lunch - BYO drinks and any sides that you may want to donate
(chips, fancy homemade treats, salads)

After lunch (approximately 1:00) we can play round a random draw doubles.

The $80.00 in the ace pool will be split $40.00 each between morning and afternoon rounds.
The money will be given away as follows
$20.00 added cash for 1st & 2nd place payouts ($10.00 to each)
Four special CTP's or Long Putts getting $5.00 for each.

Play both or just play one, you can still be there for the dogs at lunchtime.
Normal playing fee of $5.00 with $1.00 going to the course maintenance fund
and payout same as used all summer, just with $20.00 added cash for 1st & 2nd place finishers.

I will need an RSVP for a lunch count.
