Some matches have not been completed due to weather, scheduling issues, and general confusion and I apologize for this. I am honestly thinking I should remove the Match Play finals from Manic Mondays and would like everyone's input. I originally instituted them because I needed to find a way to have Match Play in this unique format league. Now I am offering a season long Match Play event however and maybe that is enough Match Play. In the playoffs it is simply confusing, difficult to schedule, and because of the way the calender is . . . we only have 2 weeks for 3 matches. 2) Eric Knaak outlasted 7) Michael Jaeger in an epic match that went 8 extra holes before Eric came out on top.
6) Josh Chapin threw in a miraculous 100 foot putt on their 18th hole to defeat 3) Brian Wilbur Williams 1 UP.
5) Mike Korpela Upset 4) Jon Nishnick 2 and 1 with solid rounds by both competitors (-10) and (-8) respectively.

Congratulations to all who made the Match Play Playoffs. Below are the final standings and, your seeds as well as who your first round match will be against. If you would like to play your match between now and Monday that is fine but be sure you have confirmed with me that you know what Match Play is all about before doing so.

For those that did not make the playoffs or those that lose their matches I will also be offering a One Division handicapped round both Mondays. I will use your scoring average to determine your handicap and you will play in a single division. $6 to play and $1 for the Ace Pool. Top 50% will get paid out in Funny Money each week. We will also begin the Summer Session of Manic Mondays on June 29th.

This week is supposed to be Alternate Tee Week. All of the alternate tees are going to be muddy and mess if we get rain today into tomorrow so if the conditions are not conducive, Alternate Tee week will be played next week instead of Putters Only night (which will go to 5/18) and this week will be Mulligan Night. Just an FYI . . . I will be out marking the alternate tees before league if the weather allows for it.

This format is much like the CTP Week in that your score matters for points and standings in the division but Payout is 100% by the Bounty rules.

Basically there is a bounty score set on each hole by division. 6 random holes will be decided and those who get the bounty score will win a share of the overall bounty by division (not by card). If you beat the bounty score . . . you will get an extra share of the bounty.

I will have a sheet showing what the bounty scores are for each hole by division so you know what you need to take on that hole to get a share. I will announce the BOUNTY HOLES before we go out . . . because I remember many of you wanted to know which holes they were for the added pressure. PLEASE BE SURE TO START SCORING ON THE APPROPRIATE HOLE ON THE SCORECARD otherwise it will mess up all of the bounties for your group.

DREW aced tonight for $115! . .. He also did well in Open because he had an ace a lot of birdies (despite having more bogies than most Open players). Be Aggressive . . . Be Be Aggressive! My card-mates were claiming that I only told everyone to be aggressive while I sat back and played safe . . . but clearly those who were aggressive (and executed) were rewarded for their play. YES YOU HAVE TO EXECUTE ALSO . . . it's not just about being aggressive its also about execution. You need to follow up your aggressiveness with made followup putts if you happened to miss. Drew knew how to play the system and break the 5 way tie at (-8) with 64 points. . . only behind Dustin Skorupinski with 70 points (-11 with 12 birdies and a bogey) but Drew's aggressiveness rewarded him over 4 other people who shot (-8) and had scores of 63, 62, 61, 61.

The same thing happened in Advanced where the 3 guys with the most birdies also finished in the top 3 . . .Cody England with 67 points (11 birdies 6 pars, and a bogey) and Zach Shelton with 61 points (9 birdies, 8 pars and a bogey). Tim Boville backed up some solid scores with 57 points (9 birdies, 6 pars, and 3 bogeys).

In Intermediate the same thing was true where Eric Knaak (57) finished with 7 birdies, 11 pars, and a bogey, Mike Korpela (55) finished with 7 birdies, 10 pars, and a bogey, and John Nishnik (52) finished with 6 birdies, 11 pars, and a bogey).

In a limited sample size for Recreational . . . the more Pars you make . . . the more competitive you will be. Sure birdies count for more points . . . but you have to balance that with bogies.

Next Week is CTP week . . where payout is 100% separated from the points earned from their score. While every hole will be worth some money ... it is also worth some points. This format is one of the very clear deciders on who walks away with prizes or money on the week . . . and those who are clearly competing on a weekly basis to remain in the top of their division..

I am thinking about doing a random Double Points Night during this league so that nobody knows what other day are worth more points.

The Wheel of Disc-fortune might need to make a re-appearance this year to determine what side game we play each night. I am not sure the Wheel is roadworthy and it hasn't been spun in over a year so it might not be the fairest decider of things but it might make a re-appearance.
