I wasn't sure how the change in SST (Removing Valley View) in conjunction with offering Saturday Snow Throwers on the South Side (Root River and Valley View) would affect the attendance . . . but here is a little history of this league.

I started in 2012-13 and ran it for 12 weeks from the end of December until the end of March and we had 229 rounds played (19 average).

In 2013-14 we bumped it up to 16 weeks because I had more time to dedicate to running leagues . . . which saw 263 rounds played over 16 weeks (16 average).

This year with 355 rounds played over 16 weeks (22 average) I would say this league has been popular and continues to grow and I look forward to running it again next year.

Thank you to Nick Williams and Tyler Kollias for stepping in and helping out while I was away. I don't remember which day of league Mike Brody stepped in to help for a week so I will thank him here even though it may have been on Saturday.


I do believe I made a mistake in allowing makeup rounds for this league and while the vote was split 1/3rd for cancelling that week of league, one third for keeping the schedule as is, and 1/3rd allowing the one makeup round . . . I made the decision to allow them in order to accommodate the other events in WI rather than pull from the same pool of people and unfortunately . . . it gave an unfair advantage to the people who would have had to chose between league or the event. Other people may have missed earlier weeks but had no opportunity to make up their rounds giving an unfair advantage to some people. While my intentions were good . . . I think it was a mistake and remind me if I ever ask again . . .I WILL NO LONGER ALLOW MAKEUP ROUNDS and I will stick to my schedule regardless of what other events happen around me. I cannot plan 4 months ahead especially when tournaments probably aren't even posted by the time I set my schedule. Some take this league just as serious as a tournament and their dedication to attending over other events should be rewarded . . . ESPECIALLY since I already allow people to drop their four lowest weeks (points). That allows people to pick and choose when they can and cannot attend.


This league raised $355 to be put towards maintenance and improvements at Dretzka, Estabrook, and Dineen through the league fees. In addition to that . . . the mulligans accounted for $310 and half of the un-hit ace pool ($45) came to $355 also going into The Disc Golf Experience Course Development Fund which will be used to get more courses in SE WI. I am hopeful to have a project to put some of this money to good use this year.

So now it is Spring, the weather is supposed to be much nicer tomorrow and the rest of this week . . . My Manic Mondays league kicks off tomorrow at Valley View at 6:00 PM. We are simply waiting for other courses to open up to begin leagues but I will be hosting Humpday Huckers on Wednesdays at Estabrook again this year, Delafield Discers on Thursdays, and I have some helpers who are stepping in to administer some leagues for me. Matt Brody will be running Take Me To The River at Root River on Tuesdays, Someone will be running a league at Sussex on Wednesday nights also for those on the west and north side of town that cannot quite make it to Estabrook, and Tyler Kollias will be running Westside Weekends at Miniwaukan on Saturdays at 10:00 AM for all those who don't have tourneys to play on Saturdays. That league will begin April 25th!

We head back to Dretzka this Sunday February 1st. February 8th is off because of The Big Freeze, but we will also be there February 15th followed by rounds at Estabrook February 22nd and March 1st.March 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th are currently scheduled for Dineen but I am also hopeful to get a different venue for the final weekend of this league March 29th . . . so stay tuned.

I will be there this week (February 1st) with a fair amount of merchandise to allow some of you a chance to use up some of your funny money before I go away for 4 weeks. I also encourage you to come visit The Disc Barn before February 8th when I leave for Arizona . . . because the fill in league directors will not be bringing merchandise or new FM payouts with them. I am hopeful to be able to offer that in coming years but not this year.

Nick Williams will be the fill-in league director February 15th, and March 8th (if weather delays me from getting back).

Tyler Kollias will be the fill-in league director on February 22nd and 29th when Nick is also in Arizona for The Memorial Championships.

Like I said . . . please tell me something specific to bring along (before Thursday). . . or plan a visit to The Disc Barn before February 8th or you will have to wait until I return in early-mid March.

I also posted about makeup rounds on facebook . . . which I am sharing below:

"In the interest of being fair . . . I am going to allow ONE makeup round to be played to account for any of the following weeks: Week #13 (March 8th, March 15th, or March 22nd). Here are the specifications you must follow in order to do a makeup round: 1) You must play with at least 1 other person who regularly attends the league (does not also need to be submitting a makeup round, can just be along for the round). 2) You will let me know in advance you will be missing a league date and will alert me with a photo of your scorecard when you are done (or turn it in to me in person) PRIOR to the missed round. You only get one chance at a makeup round so once you start . . . that round counts. NO WARMUP ROUNDS are allowed . . . your first round at Dineen for the day will become your league round. 3)The only weeks that will be allowed to be missed and makeup rounds allowed will be March 8th, March 15th, and March 22nd. March 22nd may end up as the Double Points Day at Dineen (if my special venue comes through on March 29th) so be sure to get your round in before March 22nd if you need to do a makeup. 4) If you plan to miss Week #13 (March 8th), you will play your makeup round between March 1st and March 8th. If you plan to miss Week #14 (March 15th) you will play your makeup round between March 8th and March 15th. If you plan to miss Week #15 (March 22nd) you will play your makeup round between March 15th and March 22nd."

Keep in mind . . . next week at Estabrook the Ace Pool will be starting at $162 plus whoever gets in on Sunday. $104 of that will be held back until the next Estabrook round takes place if noone hits an ace next week!

SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION about Sunday Snow Throwers. . . the website I looked at last night said the Cyclocross event was on Sunday December 7th . . . now I find a new page that says Saturday December 6th and Mark Peterson as well as the Park Supervisor have confirmed it. SUNDAY SNOW THROWERS WILL BE AT Dretzka Park Disc Golf at 9:00 AM as planned!
