All ye disc golfers! A random doubles tournament is scheduled to distribute newly arrived HMDG swag and get one more round in before the holiday season.

WHEN: Saturday, November 22
WHERE: Freedom Park
TIME: 10 am, NOTE THE TIME CHANGE.
COURSE: Same layout as the previous league and same division assignments, Greasers (Advanced) and Socs (Recreational).

If you want to pick up your order before the tournament call, text or email me to arrange pick up, 858-688-0661 or [email redacted]. Same goes for anyone that will not be able to play this tournament, get a hold of me to pick up your order.

$2 entry fee for each player and 100% payout! There will also be 2 CTP (closest to the pin) per division, one on the front 9 and one on the back 9. First CTP is $1 entry with the winner taking it all, per division. Second CTP is a disc!

Greaser division CTP holes are 7 ($$$) and 15 (disc). Hole 15 will be a mandatory tunnel shot for CTP. Throws over or around the tunnel will not be eligible for CTP prize.

Socs division CTP holes are 9 ($$$) and 17 (disc).

I have 2 baskets for tire shop and original 1. Need others with baskets to step up and volunteer to set yours up. Thank you in advance!

Championship day is here! Greasers division is a close race between Joe, Chris and Tommy. Socs division could have a lead change as well. So how did the last random doubles day turn out?

It was a beautiful day for disc golf at Freedom Park. Others liked the weather outcome as well as there was a wedding being setup at the gazebo. As the nuptials ceremony was being set up, some of the holes had to be altered. The altered holes may make it into a future course redesign, just maybe.

On to scores for championship Saturday! There were only 4 players today, all from the Greasers Division. It was head to head, who had the moxy to win the round? Players throwing for the win today were Randy, Aaron, Tommy and Jim. Tommy bested his opponents today carding a 50 with 7 birdies. Aaron was a bit sporadic this round but held on for second, shooting 57. Randy's second round of the league gave him third place with a score of 59. Jim was also out there getting the most out his discs finishing with a 61.

Tommy's win today pushed him to the lead in the Greasers Division for the HMDG Random Doubles champ! Great job Tommy! Display that trophy with pride! Since we were void of Socs Division players the division champ is Mike, his third league championship out of 4 seasons. Mike was able to accumulate enough points over the first 6 weeks that his absence the last 2 weeks didn't hurt. Congratulations Mike! You will get your trophy the next time you are at league or if we have an impromptu doubles outing before next league season.

HMDGs first venture in to night disc golf was a rounding success! Learned a few things to make the next night disc golf experience even better!

Randy made his return to the course with a huge statement by finishing in first place for the week, shooting a 61. Jim and Aaron tied at 63 for second place. Joe & Angela were in the middle of the pack at 68. Tommy & Pat D. carded a 69 for fourth place. Pat S. & Cassie rounded out the field with a 73.

Greasers division had a lead change as Joe added 3 championship points. Chris is 1 point behind and Tommy is 3 behind. The race is close! Cassie closed in on Mike's lead in the Socs division. Only 3 points separates first and second place. Pat D. is nipping at the leaders heels, back by only 4 points. Just one more week to crown division champs! Good luck everyone!

Next week's format is best disc (best score) and the rules:
Each player plays the hole as they would while playing singles; there are no shared lies. The team score is the best score on the hole by one of its players.

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. Sustained winds in the high teens and gusting to the mid to high 20's was a challenge to say the least. Take this away from today, those shots there were affected by the wind, now you know how not to throw that disc. For those that can use the wind to your advantage, good for you and hope you carded a birdie. Out of the 6 rounds there were only 5 birdies.

Joe and Jeremy were without partners this week which gave them one additional shot per hole, if they needed it. Doubles pairings this week were Pat D. & Aaron, Mike & Jim, Staci & Pat S. and Cassie & Tommy. Joe topped the leader board this week with an even par, 55. The other Cali player, Jeremy, finished second with +5, 60. Cassie & Tommy were solidly in 3rd with a round of +9, 64. Pat D. & Aaron tied with Mike & Jim at 70. Staci & Pat S. rounded out the field with a 74.

Both league division have very tight races for the leads. Chris is in front by 1 point over Joe and Tommy is 2 points back from Joe. Exciting to see how this division finishes! Mike is up by 4 points over Cassie who has a 2 point lead over Pat D. With 2 weeks left in the random doubles league - good luck to everyone!

Next week's format is set to be played under moon light for night disc golf. Alternate shot format will begin at 6 pm. Looking forward to our first round of night disc golf! Basket will be light with glow sticks and discs will be lit with small LEDs.

There have been reports that this week's doubles format (Worst Shot) is not everyone's favorite, even those that have NEVER played it (cough, cough (Jeremy)). In an attempt to maintain attendance for this Saturday, Worst Shot format will be substituted with Trifecta Format.

The doubles team plays 3 different formats for 18 holes, each format is played for 6 holes. All teams play the same format on the same six holes. Holes 1-6: Best Shot, Holes 7-12: Alternate Shot, Holes 13-18: Odd/Even Alternate Shot (One player always tees off on the odd number holes and the other player always tees off from the even numbered holes. Shots are then alternated until the finishing the hole).

Expect maximum turn out this Saturday!

Best shot doubles format yielded 3 doubles teams and Greasers Division solo player which was Jeremy. The doubles teams were Chris & Patrick, Tommy & Cassie and Jim & Mike. Chris & Pat finished first this week with team score of 47. Jeremy claimed second with a 49, thank goodness he was his own partner and saved a few birdies. Tommy & Cassie took home third place with a 52. Lastly there was Jim & Mike carding a 53.

Next weeks format is everyone's favorite, Worst Shot doubles.
Worst Shot rules:
On the tee: Partners each may throw a tee shot.
In the fairway: The competing team/s in the group choose which of the subsequent lies will be used, with the aim of making the hole as difficult as possible.
On the Green: The hole is completed once both team members have holed out from the same lie.

Best disc doubles format had a total of 3 doubles teams and one Cali (solo) player. Doubles teams were Chris & Patrick, Joe & Mike and Jim & Cassie. Jeremy was the Cali player this week. Winner of the week was the team of Joe & Mike with a 47 and 4 championship points each. Chris & Patrick were 2 throws behind at 49 scoring 3 championship points. Jeremy tied with the team of Jim & Cassie at even par, 55.

Next week's format is Best Shot rules:
On the tee: Partners each may throw a tee shot.
In the fairway: Partners choose the “best” drive between their two and both players throw their next shot from that lie. This process is repeated on every shot made by the team until holed out. REMEMBER: the “longest” shot is not always the “best” shot. Be sure to evaluate both lies before choosing.
On the Green: To be holed out, a player, from a legal stance, must release the disc so that it comes to rest supported by the basket or chains. Once one partner holes out, the hole is complete for the team. Score on the next tee, not on the green.

A beautiful Fall morning was the scene for alternate shot doubles this week. Here's how the day went. We had a total of 5 teams, 2 doubles teams and 3 solo players, for a super group all on one card. Spouses, Tommy & Angela, were paired together and the other pairing was Jeremy and Cassie. Pat, Jim and Joe played solo this week.

Joe shot a 49 for the weekly win. Pat finished in second with a 56 and Jim was in third with a 59. Tommy and Angela placed 4th and Jeremy and Cassie finished 5th. Highlight for this week was Jeremy's almost ACE! Hole 6, forehand Squall. Flexes out over Warner Street, around the guardian tree line and this is a nice looking shot. Crashing in towards the basket, smashes into the chains and then back out! OUCH!!! Damn practice baskets! Randy - how are those stands coming?

It's about time our club sports some swag! Paragon disc golf has a great deal for clubs that includes a dri-fit shirt, laser engraved bag tag and a towel. There are some details for getting the club deal package. The individual retail price for all items would price out at $25. The club deal package is $12 per set with a minimum purchase of 20. Different colored shirts is an additional $1 per shirt. $1 extra for 2XL, $2 extra for 3XL and $3 extra for 4XL. It would be awesome to have the same colored shirts for all of us, jes saying. The club logo is a single color that will be on the front and back.

I propose a pre-order for those that are interested. Also want to add an additional $3 that will go to the club for future club purchases, i.e. league awards, CTP prizes, etc. Would also like to have the bag tags that come with the package be used for bag tag challenges during the next year, rules to follow. Everyone is welcome to purchase more than one set, which will help us reach the minimum order of 20 sets. The $3 league donation would one be contributed once, not with an additional order.

Let's sum it up like this, one set is $12, league donation of $3 for a total of $15. An additional order would add $12 for a total of $27. Different colored shirts or larger sizes will be extra, as described above.

I think we can all agree that Worst Shot doubles was challenging and then having 14 mph winds on top of that was a test of patience. For all those that played yesterday, pat yourself on the back.

Pairings for this week were Mike & Tommy, Cassie & Pat And Staci & Joe. Chris, Aaron and Jim were Cali and had to throw 2 shots each time. Winning this week's league round was Chris followed by Aaron and Jim. Next were Mike/Tommy, Cassie/Pat and Staci/Joe. The format was so rough that there were only 4 birdies all day, all on Chris' card too, not that surprising though for worst shot.

The inaugural random doubles league kicked off this past Saturday. 9 players showed up and we had 3 teams of doubles and also had 3 Cali players from the Greasers division; Chris, Pat and Aaron.

Chris finished atop the leaderboard this week with a 43, collecting 6 championship points in the Greasers division. Tommy and Mike were paired together and finished in second place shooting a 47 and 5 championship points. Mike was the highest finishing player from the Socs division. Third place was Pat at 48 and 4 championship points. Joe and Staci were partners and tied with Aaron for 4th place. Cassie and Jim ended the day in 5th place.

The leaderboard update will be sent through the weekly email as I have yet to figure out how to work the scores and points on the website.

Good afternoon everyone!

Here is how the random draw doubles will work for the league. Everyone will have a poker chip/bag tag with a number associated to the ranking of their handicap. Since Chris is the lowest ranked scratch player at a 5 he will have the number 1 chip.

Greasers and Socs players are listed below with current handicap and poker chip/bag tag number.
