I had some people wondering about how the best 8 out of 10 weeks rule works. Basically this rule is in place so that even people who cannot attend EVERY SINGLE week have a chance to compete for the division. SO if you play 10 weeks you get to drop your two lowest weekly point totals. If you play 9 weeks you drop your one lowest weekly point total, and if you play 8 or less weeks your total points earned remain the same since you ultimately are dropping zeros.

Here are the total points earned right now for the trophy contenders . . . with the expected points dropped and adjusted totals. The only way this will change is if you play worse (and earn less points) than the week (s) you are dropping or if you do not show up.

I will leave a pencil box with scorecards and pencils in it just in case someone is coming late. You might have to join a group already playing or really hustle to get in your round, but its ok if you pay me after the league. Darkness is coming about 2 minutes earlier each day so we need to ensure everyone has a chance to play all the holes. Please if you are able TAKE ADVANTAGE of the 4:00-4:30 PM time slot . . . because you should be turning into your back 9 before some people even begin their first 9. I will be there at 4:00 each week so please try to arrange some groups in advance on this page, the Oakwood page, or direct contact with other league players. It will help immensely in the final 3 weeks of this league. Thanks again for coming . . . I love seeing you all each week. While this league didn't play out exactly how I wanted I am glad to see some socialization and new disc golf bonds being formed . . . so please keep trying to mix it up and play with different people. It will make you a better player and will also help those trying to learn from others. There will be even more mixing of groups and camaraderie in the fall session of this league because it will be a more formal start time and we will be doing all sorts of other fun things with it.

41 people came to league last night which ties Week #1 for the most people in attendance.

Congratulations to Dustin Skorupinski for hitting an ace on #5 to take down the Open Ace Pool of $36.

Many of you are showing drastic changes in your scores which is great to see. Everyone will be remaining in their current divisions for the remainder of the season . . . but please take it as a compliment if I need to move you up for the next season of leagues.

I was thinking about it a little bit and our final week of this 10 week league will be August 28th which leaves us with September and October before the weather begins to turn and we run out of daylight. The rules at Oakwood are that the course closes at dusk . . which means no glow disc golf.

Many of you will also be going back to school and schedules will change a bit, but I want to keep the activity going at Oakwood as long as we can because I am really enjoying this group of people. I will plan on an 8 week league immediately following this current league. It might end up being 9 holes with some other side-games if we don't have enough daylight for 18 holes. I could come up with a different game to be played each week immediately after we play the 9 holes. . . or it might even be able to be within the course of play too. Either way the start time will be 5:00 PM by the final week of league so we can all be done by 6:00 which is when the sun goes down on October 30th. Stay Tuned!

I left for MN for a Disc Golf Course Consultation, some family time with my Brother, Sister In Law, an my niece and nephew (who I only get to see 203 times per year), as well as some PDGA Amateur Disc Golf World Championships . . . caddied for Dustin Skorupinski for his Semi Finals round and then ended up volunteering to be a scorecard toteboard for the Advanced Master Womens Division and was also doing live scoring for the PDGA. Needless to say my time was spent for the greater good of the disc golf community and scores took a backseat this weekend . . . It will always be off if I do not have scores done within 24 hours of the league and am sorry that is the way this had to happen this week, but those are my reasons. I hope to always remain on top of things . . . but on the rare occasion scores take me a few days to post, please accept my apology . . . sometimes scores and internet access make it tough to complete in a timely fashion and this weekend was no different.

There was an Ace this week by Baruch Fiskett in the Recreational Division . . . but he also didn't enter the Ace Pool so the divisional Ace Pool is still intact . . . as are all the others.

Scores have been posted for this very eclectic league . . . In all of the chaos of checking in 41 people, selling discs, and discussing all sorts of disc golf events and ideas . . . I may not have explained that the Ace Pool will be handled as Individual Division League Ace Pools. Because we are playing different tees and formats, I figured the only fair way to handle the Ace Pool was to have an Ace Pool by Division. If any Ace Pool is left over in the 10 week league . . . half the money will be donated to my Course Development Fund which will be used to assist local course development . . . so we can get disc golf in other small communities like Delafield . . . and the other half will be given away within the division or contributed to a season ending party if people think that would be a fun idea for everyone. I think the season ending party would be awesome for people to reflect on the season, chat about the highs and the lows, and meet some of the other people they may not have played with. What do you all think about this idea? I will do my best to get a local venue to help sponsor the event too but I need to know who would attend after the final week of league August 28th?

I will be having a meeting on Thursday June 19th at 6:00 PM to see who is interested in this league. I want to ensure that beginners feel welcome and are comfortable with the setup and I want to see what kind of crowd to expect out at this weekly league this summer since it is brand new. PLEASE come out and help be a part of establishing what kind of league this will be. I am open to ideas to make sure as many people want to come as possible.
