I don’t know if anyone will read this or be interested in it, so I am holding off for the moment on drawing a map and will just try and explain my idea. I had a brainstorm this weekend about a possible re-design of the course. It would be relatively simple and would only require moving one basket and one tee. The good thing about it, is that it would eliminate a potentially dangerous and sometimes annoying situation with the 2nd hole fairway. It think it would restore a better flow to the course and shorten some of the walking between tees.
So here it is.
Step 1 - eliminate the 3rd hole. This would open up possibilities of changing the 2nd hole, but that is a story for another day.
Step 2 – move the 3rd hole basket to the old 8th hole fairway. This would create a new hole from the present 7th tee. There are a couple options, tuck the basket into the woods between the old 8th fairway and the present 8th fairway. This would create a rhbh short hyzer hole, or you could make it a severe hyzer hole by putting the basket further down the old 8th fairway.
Step 3 – move the 3rd hole teepad to an area directly behind the 2nd tee. This spot is about 1/3 of the way along the trail between the present 6th and 7th tee. There is an old skidder path there at the moment, that would require a little bit of clearing. This would create a very cool rhbh anhyzer hole to the present 7th basket.
After this is done the layout would be as follows. Hole 4 becomes hole 3, then you walk to the present 7th tee and play to the old 8th fairway. This would be the new 4th hole. Then take a short walk to the 5th tee. The 5th and 6th holes would remain the same. Then from the 6th hole it would be a short walk to the new 7th tee, behind the 2nd hole. Where you would play to the present 7th basket.
I’ve realized it is pretty difficult to try and explain this in words, if anyone wants clarification on this please let me know.
