The league ended with some low scores all over the cards. Tommy and Joe were under par, 52 and 54 respectively, and Aaron was right on par. Cassie and Staci threw low scores as well putting them both well below par with their handicap added in.

Aaron won this week with a handicap score of 45! Second and third were Staci and Cassie. The third place finish for Cassie put her in a tie for first with Mike for the overall standings. With the lower handicap Mike takes the Pre-Spring league title! Congratulations Mike!

Birdie club members for this week; Tommy (6), Aaron (4), Pat (3), Joe (2) and Jeremy & Jim (1).

And that concludes this league. Next league will begin May 17 and will start at 9 am to beat the heat.

This Saturday's weather was in the perfect range for disc golf. So good weather, disc golf friends and banging chains; yeah, that's a good day.

Back to back weekly wins has put Mike in position to repeat as HMDG League winner. Mike threw his best round so far with HMDG at a 68. Joe tied the HMDG low score, which he set 4 weeks ago, with a 52 (-3 raw score). Way to go guys! As for the ladies, Cassie shot the hot round for the ladies. Welcome back to league play Staci.

Let's jump into the birdie club members for this week. All birdies carded this week were on the same card. Tommy and Joe (3), Pat (2) and Jim (1).

Handicap update for April 12: Staci (-59), Cassie (-41), Mike (-21), Aaron (-10), Randy & Jeremy (-7), Jim (-6), Pat (-5), Tommy (-1) and Joe (+1).

Last note for this week. Cassie and I will host a burger and dog BBQ after next weeks league. This will be a pot luck and BYOB, to include swimsuits and families. Saturday morning welcomed us back to Freedom Park with low 70's temperatures and lots of wind. Winds were sustained in the 15-20 mph with gusts up to 35. WOW! What a challenge. So how did the league fair?

Well Mike ended the league week with another win and 15 more championship points, extending his lead to 8 points over Randy and Aaron (Mike 78, Randy & Aaron 70). Check the leader board for the rest of the standings.

This weeks birdie club members include Joe H (5 birdies), Jim & Aaron (2), and Randy & Jeremy (1). Lack of birdies in the field are blamed on Mother Nature. I will save this weeks penalty totals as those with a lot may have not recovered yet. The weekly penalty leader had 4. It was the wind, yeah that's it, the wind.

Let's all hope for lower scores and better weather next week.

Awesome Day. After running the show today, I have a great appreciation for what Jim does every week to keep this league going. Thanks Jim, you were definitely missed this week.

Aaron was the winner of the day, with an even par raw score and a 44 after the handicap adjustment. Jeremy was second, also with a sub-50 score. Randy and Mike tied at 52. Randy took third based on the handicap tie-breaker. Tommy and Joe both shot 2 under for raw scores and since both are scratch golfers, each received fifth place points.Jay came up from Hanford to shoot the course with us for the first time and Jesse returned for his second round to establish his handicap.

Gusting winds made for some unpredictable throws and football in the park forced us to change the configuration of hole 18.

Birdies this week: Joe (4); Tommy, Aaron & Jeremy (3); Jay (2); Randy (1).

Updated penalty shot totals: Mike (11); Jim (9); Aaron (8); Randy (7); Cassie, Tommy & Staci (3); Jeremy, Joe, Jesse & Jay (2).

Another awesome turnout today!

A new weekly winner walked away with the 15 points, Mike edged Joe and Randy by 2 throws. Joe was second based on the handicap tie breaker. The rest of the field finished in the following order, Cassie, Jim, Aaron and Staci. Tommy showed up for a few holes but had to attend to parental duties.

Weather wasn't an issue what so ever, thankfully. Over cast and mid 50's didn't keep Joe from putting up a birdie string on holes 7-9 and one more on the back 9. Aaron and Jim supported the Birdie Club with 2 each and Randy contributed with 1 of his own.

We have also been keeping totals on penalty shots. Here's those standings; Mike & Jim (9), Aaron (7), Randy (5), Cassie, Tommy & Staci (3) and Jeremy & Joe (1).

Handicap update: Tommy & Joe (0), Jeremy (6), Pat & Jim (7), Randy (8), Aaron (11), Mike (22), Cassie (40) and Staci (56).

Thank you to everyone who brought out your baskets. Our league would not be possible without all of you! THANK YOU!!! We even had extra baskets that didn't get set up.

If you haven't played a round in Wrightwood then you are definitely missing out on a great course.

HMDG was represented by Randy, Jeremy, Tommy and Jim. We played the 27 hole course since the ski slops were vacant of snow at Mtn High North. The south mountain had man made snow with a few brave skiers.

High notes for the day for HMDG, Tommy almost aced holes 8 and 13. On hole 8 Tommy's drive was facemasked! Such a nice shot that resulted in a birdie. Hole 13 was much closer as his drive hit the chains on the weak side and fell almost within the shadow of the basket.

To be clear, this tournament allowed for mulligans so some of the scores reflect mulligan usage. Tommy was the HMDG leader with -17 which is a 64, par for the 27 holes is 81. Jim was next with a 72, 9 under, followed by Randy at -1 and Jeremy shot even par.

3 out of the 4 of us scored some swag and discs during the after round raffle. Tommy also won a ring of fire putting round which garnered a disc.

Week 3 is in the books and the winner is still the same, Cassie with a hot (handicap) round of 38 (raw of 79).

Special welcome to a San Diego "celebrity", hope you had fun Jordan.

Joe carded the actual hot round at 53, -2, with 4 birdies. Consistent putting will save you every time. Other birdie hunters were Jim with 3 and Randy with 2.

Staci and Joe finally established their handicaps, 54 and 2 respectively, and will now earn league points towards the 2014 HMDG Pre-Spring league. Additional results from the week, Mike finished 2nd and Jim took 3rd. Most everyone had a better rounds than previous weeks, come on Randy get in the game buddy!

A reminder that next week, February 22, is a bye and resumes on March 1. Good luck to those representing our "home town" in the 4th Wrightwood Ice Bowl at Sky High Disc Golf. There are still spots open at www.discgolfunited.com. Let's get signed up and carpool!

Tomorrow brings week 3 of Pre-spring league! Who will be ending the day with 15 first place points? Weather doesn't look to be an issue, should be in the mid to high 60's.

Some friends in this league have started rivalries and this week will be first chance for bragging rights.

Like to welcome 4 new throwers to the league; Joe, Jeff, Jesse and Staci. In all we had 11 disc golfers today, with the newest 4 working on establishing a handicap to score league points.

The weekly league winner for the second week in a row is Cassie. Congrats to the female disc golfers in the league. Making the guys throw some hot rounds to score some premium league points.

Tommy carded 6 birdies on the day - nice shooting. Next birdie hunters were Jeremy, Randy and Jim with 2 each. Aaron carded a birdie on hole 9 also. Those darn trees and 2+ putting keep birdies off the rest of the cards.

The league leader after week 2 is Cassie with Jeremy hot on her heels. The rest of us have the leaders in our sights and looking to shoot low.
