We will be teeing off at 5:15 today and trying to get the entire round in without using LED's/Glow. Please bring at least a couple lights or glow discs because we will be cutting it close at the end of the round. We will be meeting in the picnic area parking lot and not the gravel lot by hole #1. We will be at Moose Meadows again this week. Course is looking very close to ready for the Night Moose Open this year. I will post all the info for the NMO in the next few days. Looks like custom stamped discs from Discraft will be the players packs this year and I believe you will get two discs with your entry fee. It will be a choice of midrange or driver and a putter, most likely a magnet or challenger will be your putter choice. I have the list of people who will be invited and will post it on the tournament page once I get it all up.

Attention All Disc Golfers!!!

Here is all the info and at the bottom of the section is a link to online registration where you can pay for the Southgate Disc Golf Fundraiser.

Join us for the 3rd Annual DISC Golf Fundraiser. Southwinds Golf Course will be turned into a DiscGolf Course for one day only to benefit the Southgate Parks & Recreation Commission. Outing will be played shotgun start in doubles style with all the regular fun of a typical golf outing such as closest to the pin, aces, and a benefit bucket toss.

You get to pick your own partner or can register alone and we will partner you up. There will be a competitive division for the serious disc golfers and a recreational division for those that have never played the game (disc will be provided). Dinner is included, cocktails will be cash bar. NO Outside Alcohol Allowed On The Course! Beer & Beverage Cart Will Be Available!

Deadline to register your team is September 18th.

We will be back at Willow this week and I hope everyone who made the trip up to states enjoyed themselves as much as I did. Ace pool is getting a little beefy and I am anxiously anticipating Fall/Winter golf this year. Hope everyone can make it out to Willow for leagues this week.

Next week we will be back at Moose Meadows and there will be new holes in play. It looks like there is a good possibility that we will be able to 26 holes next week(2 Rounds of 13) depending on the basket situation.

The DGLA Summer Points Series seemed to fly by this year and a lot of Night Moose golfers have done extremely well in the series. I just want to personally thank everyone for coming out to leagues and enjoying themselves and being competitive at the same time. A huge thanks to Mike Stratford for taking over the Sunday league and also to Coach and Dave Lassen for all their hard work and dedication with the Saturday league as well. Thanks to Jesse Whitlock for running the leagues on several occasions when some of us could not make it out. I have seen a dramatic increase in the amount of golfers that play all of our leagues and it is great to see familiar faces and many new faces every week. Thanks to everyone for coming out to support Night Moose, DGLA and disc golf in general. Our sport has grown by leaps and bounds since I started playing back in 1999 and it just seems to be getting better with the amount of involvement, new courses, competitive tournaments and events everywhere.

Now.....on to the state berths.(I know Jesse has been waiting)

Congratulations to Dave "Dr. Buzz" Lassen for taking home the berth for the Michigan State Championships for the Sunday league. I was fortunate enough to edge out Mark Manard in the race for the most points in the Thursday Night Moose league and secure a state berth for myself. After we did some careful calculations the berth for most combined league rounds between Sundays and Thursdays goes to Jesse Whitlock. Also a congrats to Rich McPherson, Sam Smith and Mike Stratford for securing themselves a state berth as well. I look forward to seeing a herd of Moose up in Ludington/Shelby this year for states.

Next week will be at Moose Meadows and for the rest of the season we will be playing 1 round a month at Moose Meadows and for the other dates we will be voting weekly to see where the league will be held. It seems that Ben will be starting a league at Lakeshore on Thursdays as well. We will start the voting for where leagues will be on Thursday and voting will end on Mondays. The courses that we will be voting on will be Lakeshore(depending on what time Ben starts his league), Willow and Moose Meadows. If there are other courses that you would like to consider please let me know as I welcome any ideas that you have. Courses will have to be within a reasonable distance for everyone so we will try to keep it localized.

The Thursday league will run for the rest of the summer points series and after that I am uncertain. Thursday is the only day that I have free every week to run the league so I would like to keep it going into the Winter and switch it over to Glow when the season changes. I am overloaded with a lot of things right now and do apologize if I have inconvenienced anyone.

I can continue to run the league every Thursday but am looking for someone to take over the Sunday league. Due to my new work schedule I will no longer be available to run the Sunday league and it will make it easier on everyone if there is someone who can attend and I can hand the reins over to.

This coming Thursday I encourage people to attend the round at Moose Meadows and new ideas, course locations, Night Moose Open 2013, and other things will be discussed.

Tentative dates for the Night Moose Open 2013 are set and this very well may be the last.

You read it right. This upcoming Thursday we are a Highlighted League of the Week in the DGLA Michigan Cooperative Points Series. So that could only mean one thing.....double points!!! The course is in great shape and we will be playing a minimum of 20 holes(10 holes 2x). The buy in will be $10 all in that will include $2 for ace pool, $3 to CTP's. We will have a 50% and a 100% CTP and also a prize CTP. If you need directions to the course please contact someone who has played here before or send me a message and I would be more then happy to get you directions to the course. I look forward to seeing everyone this coming Thursday at Moose Meadows and it should be a fun time as usual. See you on the course.

I was able to get up early today and cut nearly the entire course. It looks like it will be a little wet so I would recommend pants to help with those errant drives where you may end up in the thick. We will be playing at least 20 holes(10 holes 2x). When it clears up or when there are breaks in the rain I plan on fogging for mosquitoes at least once. We have all played in worse so come on out for a round at The Meadows.

Conditions were a little rough last night but the scores were still very competitive. Congrats to Ben Calhoun on his forehand ace on Hole #4 and also his CTP on Hole #9. Shouts out to Jesse for taking home the 100% CTP on Hole #3.

We will be back at the Meadows next week and will hopefully be playing two rounds of 12 holes for leagues(weather permitting). I am going to set the schedule for the next couple weeks out so it will be set for the rest of this month.

After discussing with players on Sunday, the playoff between Sam and Kurt will be held next week at Thursday leagues at Moose Meadows. They are tied in overall points and this will crown the 1st ever Thursday Night Moose league title winner.

As stated previously, it will be a sudden death playoff and they will be playing from just in front of Hole #2 tee's and will be throwing to Hole #4's basket. If a winner is not decided then they will throw from #6's tee to Hole #8's basket. It should be a great battle that I am looking forward to.
