Okay, we have about 80 to 90 bucks to give away. So today, 10/10 at 6pm, we're gonna meet at Lincoln Park and play the front 9 three times. Hit an ace, get paid... if you hit 2 and I hit one, we split 1/3, 2/3... if no one hits, then dots will come into play. I'll get into the rules of dots and all that jazz Wednesday.

There will also be a place for you to put acepool and 50/50 money, but you wont know where that is til you get there.
Remember, we are playing the new course and it's Spag's birthday, so heckle him freely all round.
And enough talk about the Woods. We all knoiw its issues and we all take pride in the place, thats why these issues bother us as much as they do. And it's okay to vent... which is what most of these posts have been. But now, on to brighter things.... next weeks league round. And if anyone wants to pay me for the CCR Open on Wednesday, I'll be taking registration till I tee off or when I'm done shredding Rivers Edge.

Once again, Dimick is right. I never complained about the course. The course isn't the problem. Maybe I'm just unlucky in the meetings I have with casuals at grand woods and Mr. 32000 is right. However, I think it's much more likely that you are misrepresenting the facts. The majority of players at grand woods that arent members of our league, Tuesday doubles, women's league, or a league from a different city are not nice people- no matter how you approach them. It's possible that they, just like us, have a bad taste in their mouths because of past dealings with leaguers like we do with casuals, but id bet my bottom dollar that the problem lies somewhere in the fact that grand woods park is a great place to go and get all fucked up for cheap and people that are in that state of mind do dumb shit. Like littering. Destroying park property. Writing horrible things on benches. Etc.

But it's different than it was 7 years ago, I was a casual when i started but I never destroyed tee signs or tagged anything or just broke shit to break shit. Everyone is complaining because lots of the people on the course have no respect for anything that isn't theirs. They dont give a shit about the park or the course, it's just a place for them to fuck off and smoke and drink. I've almost been in 2 fights this year with drunk ass casuals who just want to talk shit and be jackasses. It's out of control and something needs to be done, not sure what we can do but something has to happen. I really love this course and hate seeing the direction it's going. It's to the point as a club we should stop putting money into the course because anything we do just gets broken, or written on with vulgar stuff. It's all bullshit and I'm completely over playing that course unless I go before like 11 am and can finish before those morons wake up from their drunken stuper from the night before. Thats what everyone is so mad about, not the new holes really just everything we have to deal with when we play there. Personally I try to be polite as I can when dealing with casuals because they have a bad view of league players, but when i get told to fuck off or something like that for asking to play through, its bull.

And I agree with Justin, a big thanks to Rinker, Alex, Cal and Derek and anyone else who volunteers out there. The course is looking great, just wish the atmosphere matched the course.

Look first of people are only as rude as they are treated, so for the club members that walk onto the course at the woods and act like you have more rights to be there than the hundred or so people that use the course everyday that your not there and expect people to treat you any kind of respect your wrong. how about talking to them the same you talk to someone in the club be casual, inform them and be polite, if we can not be these things how can you expect them to be.
The bigger issue was the two or three groups that waited to tee and then went out in front of everyone to start. they should have started behind hole one.
Grand Woods deserves everything it has gotten and deserves much more. It has served as the face of disc golf in Lansing for over 20 years and I would like to see it go for another 50.
And just because people that play it once or twice a week or are incapable of the courtesy they expect of others dont like playing there dosnt mean we drop it or or do things like pull the baskets and put them on course that never gets played. I f you dont like that much start your own club or league and you want have to worry about it.

Dimick is right. Grand woods will never change. It's very sad and unfourtanate for there to be a need to resort to extreme measures, but take a look at the pay to play courses in the area. Burchfield, Sleepy Hollow, even Fitz, you don't have the problems that you have at Grand Woods. The reason why signs are pointless isn't because the scumbags are ignorant of common courtesy, it's because they don't care. I say the club needs to pull the baskets from grand woods and replace them with the raskets from fitz. If we want disc golf to grow as a sport locally we need to separate ourselves from the regular asshats that populate grand woods. I've spoken with quite a few people that use grand woods for recreation other than disc golf and they look at all disc golfers as if they were drunken casuals. Our time and money would be better invested in fixing the nagging issues at fitz or attempting a second course at sleepy hollow or some other location that would actually discourage the negative behavior that, at least to me, seems to be encouraged and embraced at grand woods.

And I'm one of those people who added the 6 additional holes and couldn't be happier about it. But it's a public park that is free to play. Unless I pull all the baskets there's not much I can do. I will put up a sign asking people to allow faster groups to play through but when you're dealing with drunk idiots, signs don't do much.

coarse rules and fix the freaking problem.

How about, "Any group larger than 4 must allow smaller groups to play through (in writing on the board)."

Waited 15 min on teepad #1, 15 min on #2, 40 min on #3, 20 minutes on #7, 20 minutes on #A, 30 minutes on #B, and numerous other delays.

Many golf (ball) coarses are on public property and they still have rules about group size and etiquette. Allowing and waiting for drunken groups of 7 and 8 to play on a public coarse is outrageous. To utimately be penalized, even more ridiculous.

I feel better now.
