Get ready for head-to-head battles in one of our most competitive (and flexible!) league formats yet — welcome to Big Rock’s September Match Play Flex League!
Format & Divisions
We’re planning two divisions:
Amateurs will alternate between White and Blue tees weekly.
Pros will alternate between Blue and Gold tees weekly.
This is a double elimination format, so you’re guaranteed at least 2 matches, with a maximum of 5 if you make a run from the loser’s bracket. We’re aiming for 16 players per division. If we exceed that, we may add a play-in round or split into more divisions. If we have fewer, Rob will seed the bracket based on his (wise?) judgment, and/or PDGA ratings and some players may get a bye. Worst case, we’ll scale down to an 8-player bracket.
⚔️ Match Play Rules
Classic match play format: You're playing against a person, not the course.
1 point per hole won, no points for ties.
Most holes won = match winner.
If you're tied after 18, go back to hole 1 and keep going sudden death style.
???? Flex Schedule
This is a flex league, meaning:
You have one week (Sun–Sun) to complete your match.
You'll coordinate directly with your opponent to schedule your round.
Shorter days = tighter windows — quick rounds after 5PM, or weekends may be necessary.
If your schedule is extremely limited (e.g. only Thursdays at 8AM), this may not be the best fit. That said, we’re all part of the DG family, so let’s work together, communicate early, and make it happen.
???? Entry & Payouts
Payout = $30pp/division – DGScene fees – $3pp to course + added cash
8-player bracket: Winner takes all
16-player bracket: 75% to 1st, 25% to 2nd (rounded to clean numbers)
We’re also injecting added cash from the 2025 League Ace Pot — likely ~$100 per division (final numbers TBD 2025 ace pot will be split into added cash for remaining public events, and rollover to start off 2026 leagues)
