The 2nd to last round of the session is in the books! Six of us (with 3 dads) snuck out to the course to close out Fathers' Day ... thanks for makin' the Nightcap part of your day, boys!
James smoked everybody with a 49 and cleared the huge field by 5 ... nice shootin' JK!
Jennings and I took down the two $5 CTPs on holes 5 and 16, respectively.
There weren't any aces at Grizzly Oaks, and the pot is up to $230.
We'll close out the session next week at Stony where we'll play a doubles round for $5 each and everyone who's played at least one round this session will be eligible to nab the whole pot with an ace or 16 CTPs worth either $10 or $15 each if nobody cards a one. We'll play green shorts with $10 CTPs on 3 & 5 and $15 CTPs on 2, 4, 6, 7, & 9-18. If my math's right, that adds up to the $230 pot.

McCool and Schmitty added $8 to their cabbage roll for nabbin' the CTPs on holes 2 & 14, respectively. Nice shots fellas!

A few near aces, but none to card. The pool's up to $214.

Bald saw only seven of us play the pro/long layout this week. We almost needed the glow light, but ended up getting it done before too late. Thanks to everyone for coming out to the bruiser!
It was a one-shot differential at the top, but Bry and Brandon's 62 took down the $35 pot under clear skies and 70 degrees. Nice shootin' guys!
JK and I stopped the winners from grabbin' all the dough with $7 CTPs on 7 & 13. No aces this week, so the pool moves up to $193.

Eight of us snuck away for a doubles round at Buckhorn this Memorial Day weekend! Thanks to everyone who came out and played the blue long format on a simply beautiful day!

Fanzi & Latshaw got paired up and smoked everybody! They shot a 45 and cleared the rest of the field by 8 … dang! Adding insult to injury, they also each took an $8 CTP (holes 13 & 18) making off with all the loot. Nice round fellas!

The hot shooters didn’t hit an ace this week though, so the pool’s up to $175.

The bruiser is next as we jump into June this Sunday. The main entrance is open at Bald (and the Greensheild gate is closed), but we’ll still meet at the boat launch until the beach construction is done and they open the lot by #1. Hope to see you out there!

We started with 9 but finished with 8; and Bry took it down with a 49. JK cashed too with his 51 … remember that wind I mentioned! Nice rounds, fellas!
JK also took home $9 for his drive on hole 4, and Ray made off with almost enough to cover his buy-in next week for hitting the basket on 15. Love to watch those!
No aces at the little course in Royal Oak; and the ace pot is up to $154.
We’re back to the top of the rotation next weekend and will play some doubles over at Stony. It’s Memorial Day weekend, but, if you’re in town, why not come out and join us?!

James & I took this one down with a 52 on the long layout; I nabbed the CTP on hole 3 ($6); and Hayden took the CTP on 17 ($6) as well as the “long putt for pickles” on hole 18. Nice job!

It was a singles round at the little course in Troy, and JK took it down with a scorching hot 52. Andrew and I tied behind James at 54. Nice win, JK!
Andrew and I split the cash CTPs on holes 8 and 13, respectively ($6 each); and for his drive on hole 5, Andrew is also the proud new owner of a Westside Sword thanks to Dave & Cassie’s generous donation. Thank you!

It was shorts and t-shirt weather for the first big-boy course of the session last night at Bald. Twelve of us made it out for 18 bruisers from the shorts. Thanks to everyone who capped off their weekend slinging plastic!
The low wind (and everyone’s amazing talent) kept it close at the top, but Andrew and Jacob took it down with a 52 while Fanzi and Jon took one more shot to card a 53. There were three teams right behind the cash spots at 54. Nice shootin’, y’all!
Jacob donated a pretty Zone that Bry took home for his CTP on hole 14. There were two cash CTPs on holes 7 & 17; and Nick and JK are both $11 richer for putting it closest on those two greens.

Eleven of us were out at River Bends for a doubles round to start our week. We played in really comfy weather, and our 9-27 layout was only a little bit wet. Thanks to everyone who came out.

James made sure there wasn’t a tie at the top and shot a hot 47 (-10) to take down the week. Just to rub it in our faces a little bit, he decided to take one of the CTPs, too! Bry and Brandon kept it honest and earned back their buy-ins with a solid 49. McCool put it closest on the other two CTPs earning himself enough cash for a craft beer at the bar and the DGA Quake that Tanaya donated (thank you!)

We’re off next Sunday for Easter, and then we’ll venture over to Bald where the front entrance should be open. If we can’t park by hole 1, we’ll meet at the boat launch parking lot near 18’s long pad. Hope to see ya out there for a doubles bruiser on the 27th!

Maybe 9 is the magic number? There were 9 of us again for a Sunday evening cash round. This week it was singles over at Grizzly Oaks with some pretty nice weather!

Bry took it down with a solid 47, and Fanzi wasn’t too far behind where his 49 earned him the silver. There were two cash CTPs this week; and James put it closest on hole 3 while Jacob got a little tree love and earned the honor on hole16.

No aces were carded, and the pool is up to $45.

For our Sunday Nightcap opener, I was worried about the Stony Metropark cops and an impending thunderstorm messing with the end of the round … and both of them did! The cop on duty tried to hustle 9 of us out of the park at a time that we definitely didn’t need hustling; the rain and the wind that hit both cards on their last holes took care of that. Despite the wet finish, it was a grand opening with super-warm temps for most of the round. Thanks for coming out!
There was some hot shootin’ before Mother Nature reminded us how small we are. JK and Ryan S tied Cali McCool at 46 on Green Shorts to split the $45 pot, and Tanaya edged out the field for the $18 Cash CTP on hole 6. The Ace Pool is at $24.
We’re scheduled for Bald next week where we’ll try to get started earlier than later. I’ll update the Scene with some info about timing and accessing the course later this week. Hope to see ya out at the bruiser next Sunday!
