bbq back on for next Sunday 5/6 weather permitting (wow it is May already). Bring some extra loot to pitch in (a few bucks as in 3 or more)...this will help pay for the grub and a few samll tokens of our appreciation for the folks who run the handi and keep us up to date .... also can have a ring of fire if I bring my basket. on the menu ( pink slime free burgers and giant 1/4 lb dogs with all the trimmings for both) fyi .... the following Sunday 5/13/12 is Mother's Day

That will cover all the burgers and homewrecker sized dogs. with all the trimmings. If you are veggie freak bring your grillable squash or shroom or whatever other hideous plant you may eat

Limona Brandon is a nice little course with surprising elevations (9 holes with alt black rubber pads). Medard park in East Valrico area is very challenging. Tee pads are not in yet, so the rubber pads that are there are playable as long as you brush the sand off of them and it is nice and dry. Floral City is a nice elevated, well maintained course up in Spring Hill. Lutz Executive is tough course if you play all the putting greens as hazards ( it is also a Par 3 ball golf course and you pay to play) with some funky baskets. T1 and T2 at Turkey Lake in Orlando is a good event. As far as PDGA membership. I think it really does not matter what you say you are as your ranking will be adjusted as you play PDGA events. http://www.pdga.com/files/documents/PDGARatingsGuide.pdf Most tourneys take ALL weekend ( except for some one day Tourneys like the Del Sol tour events). The Sizzler event at Tradewinds in Fort Lauderdale was a good event from memory. If you play these events other than Rec you will run inot some sticklers for the rules and some people that try to cheat, ands some that think they know the rules but don't etc, etc. On the other hand most of the players are very freindly and a pleasure to play with but just like life you run inot some tools now and then.

Questions; With the new year approaching I was thinking about a PDGA membership as well as trying out some of the 2012 Florida events. What should I register as, an amature or intermediate or recerational player? What are the best events? Where are the best courses outside of St. pete? Do any of you travel and play any distant courses or events, how do you fare? Well I used to play back in college pretty well, that was 10 years ago, life took hold, I had to break from the sport for a time but I would love to pick it back up regularly. Could any of you please share your thoughts and insights. Thanks

I understand the whole handicap process but isnt it backwards. I mean you go out to play disc golf to shoot low. But when you establish why would you want to shoot low? I know everyone jokes about bagging but its true. You should bag so you dont take yourself out of the money by people with higher handicaps. Thats Why I truly feel that you should at least pay the top raw score his money back. Also before you tell the winners of the handicap you should announce the top 3 raw scores so thet get the credit for shooting a low score. Then pay out the baggers. I mean there is no motivation to shoot low when you establish. I just dont think its fair when A player shoots 45 and doesn't win anything at all. It just blows me a way.
