Tomorrow is the final day of the SEASON for the DFOK 2011-2012 Flint Hills Bag Tag League & Points League.
(The new season with new tags will start in June (just like last year))

With that in mind, tomorrow night's “WARNER WEDNESDAY” will be a big night with final tag numbers and points standings on the line.

If that’s not motivation enough, all DFOK tag members in attendance tomorrow night will be able to compete for a Discs Unlimited tee shirt! CTP style! WOW!

In order to facilitate as many league members as possible, the tee time has been pushed back to 6pm (sharp).

It is sure to be a league round that people will be talking about for a long time… so don’t miss out!

Considering more rain will be rolling through the area today, I thought I should remind everyone of the Weather rules for the Warner Wednesday league.

We play in the rain, no matter how hard it is falling from the sky. Yes, it could be messy & miserable, but if it's ONLY rain league will be played as scheduled. Look at it as practice for that rainy tournement you'll eventually be playing in... (b/c most disc golf tournements are played rain or shine).

HOWEVER, if the National Weather Service issues a Severe Thunderstorm WARNING that is in effect during normal league hours (5pm thru 9pm) league night will be CANCELED. If you are not sure if a WARNING has been issued, I will be sure to post that information right here if one has been is issued.

In short if it just raining, it's Game On!

Due to diminishing daylight in the evenings, our Wednesday part of the season has concluded (until next spring). Starting in November, our 2011 Bag Tag & Points league will shift into the winter/weekend part of the schedule.

The Official Flint Hills Bag Tag League & Points League rounds will be held at the Warner Park Disc Golf Course ON THE 1ST & 3RD SUNDAY EACH MONTH. Tee time for these Sunday league rounds will be 1:30pm. Please check-in & warm-up in time to be ready to play at 1:30pm. (Brrrrr)

So, let the discs & snow flakes fly!

REMINDER: All Bag Tag League Members & Prospective Members!

Today, Sunday November 6th, is the first round of the fall/winter segment of the Bag Tag & Points league schedule (1st & 3rd Sundays of each month).

League START TIME is at 1:30pm so be sure to arrive to WARNER PARK plenty early to check in and warm up in advance of the 1:30pm tee time. See previous NEWS posts on DiscGolfScene for more details.

NOTE: When checking in / signing up this week, be sure to find MARK KEWLEY as he will be running league this week in the absence of Rick Petrie.

For those of you who watch your stats on this site really close, or you like to enter their hole by hole scores after every league night, you will find that last weeks posting has been fixed. Now that I've fixed it, you should be able to do what you usually do. Sorry for the mix up.

For those of you who don't, you may not even notice the difference... heck, you may not even see this "News". Ha!

It has been brought to my attention by a couple league members that the course layout I used to enter everyone's scores Wednesday night has some "issues". Basically, it looks like you played only 9 holes, but got your stroke scores for a full 18. Ouch! I will try to get it corrected sometime tomorrow evening, or on Sunday.

Good news is, it has NO IMPACT on what Bag Tag you received Wednesday night or the number of Points you received. Those are still correct. It ONLY effects the people who use this site to track/chart their personal scores, records, etc.

Considering there are some scattered showers rolling through the area, I thought I should point out the rain rules for our league.

We play in the rain, no matter how hard it is falling from the sky. Yes sometimes it could be messy & miserable, but for scheduling purposes it's just simpler that way.

However, if we get put into a Severe Thunderstorm Warning (which won't happen today) things do change a little. If we do happen to see a Severe Thunderstorm Warning today I will send/post a follow up before league tonight... but I don't expect to see any weather advisory warnings whatsoever.

Unfortunately a small error occurred at the scoring table this week (Aug. 24th). The error happened early in the scoring process and was NOT caught in time to fix the problem (before people started to leave).

It was a small error, but effected a lot of tags. Specifically, the error happened with tag #7 and set off a big "domino effect" through the remaining 17 tags.

The error was regrettable, and I apologize. Considering the nature of our league (lots of people who don't play every week), this error cannot be easily "undone". So at this point, I do not plan to track down players and swap out tags.

The updates from Aug. 24 first shows the tags that you SHOULD have received. Then the second update from Aug. 24 adjusts the tags to show what tags people actually walked away with. I know this is not ideal, however we will just have to stick with those tags & not look back.

Once again, sorry for the mix-up. I will do my best to prevent this from happening again.

Nice to see such a good turn out tonight. Thanks to all who attended. Shout out to our two newest members, Cody & Josh. Thanks for joining!

Seemed as though playing in groups of 3 helped speed things up, because we were finished with league activities before dark. For the most part everyone seemed to like the change, so we'll stick with it as long as daylight is an issue (we can switch back to bigger groups when we switch to weekend play this winter). Sorry for the inconvenience.

If you played league last week, the following probably does not surprise you at all.

Due to the days becoming shorter every week, we are starting to once again have "Daylight Issues" at the end of league night (predicted sunset for 8/24 is 8:09pm, with total darkness only minutes later. Ouch! ). So, we're going to have to revert back to some things we did in the Spring.

START TIME 5:30: I realize this will cause some problems for a few people but the time has come to move the start time back to 5:30p. So, please do your best to be at the league HQ and ready to play by 5:30p, at that point we will draw our tee assignments.

THREE TO A TEE: We are going to see if playing in groups of 3 speeds things up any. If at all possible, we will have groups of 3, then if there are a lot of players in attendance, some will have 4 in a group. If this does not save time, we will go back to groups of 4 next week.

SHORTER TIE BREAKER: A new & shorter tie breaker throw will be implemented this week. It should eliminate errant throws (which take more time to measure). Plus with the students back (thus more non-league players on the course), the area around Tee #3 may not be as available as before. Yes, I already have a spot in mind & it should be fun for all.

SPOTTERS: Do not hesitate to send a spotter out to an area where there is tall grass. Looking for a lost disc can slow down a lot of people. (btw, Mark and I will be meeting with P&R staff this week to discuss multiple issues, one of them being the immediate removal of the hay/tall grass)

SKIP PLAYING #7: EVENTUALLY we will start to skip playing hole #7, everyone will just take a 3 on that hole. It is not a very difficult hole, plus it is easy to go straight from #6 to #8.

OTHER IDEAS: We will further discuss time saving ideas at league, so be sure to make suggestions.

With today's weather forecast in mind, please remember the Warner Wednesday Severe Weather rules.

If a Severe Weather Alert (thunderstorm or tornado only) is issued for 5:30 in Riley and/or Geary counties, the following will apply.
• WATCH Alert: Only 9 holes will be played.
• WARNING Alert: League will be CANCELED!

If a Watch is issued WHILE WE ARE PLAYING, each player can leave when they want with their tag (no questions asked).

If a Warning is issued WHILE WE ARE PLAYING, the league will be canceled immediately.

If it is ONLY raining, we will still have a league round. The number of holes to play will be decided by the players present at the start of league play.
