A challenging and well designed 18/24 hole technical wooded course with variety, elevation, tight lines, some blind shots and thick rough. No water hazards. Needs better signage and baskets and a few more trash cans. The varied pads are still decent. The course is in a clean and maintained multi use park with camping and swimming. Opens at 7 am, $5 entrance fee.

Love this place! Fun and Technical! Playing here every week, would make you a better disc golfer and human being!

Pros: Coldbrook Park has always been one of the classic Michigan courses that everyone talks about - usually either folks love it or hate it but it seems to have maintained a special character that keeps people coming back. A 'pro' or a 'con' depending on the way you look at it, but Coldbrook demands that you learn lines (some of which are a bit hidden) that yield higher percentages of birdies. In this sense, first timers are likely going to feel frustrated when getting bad kicks. Really, I think one of the most interesting things about this course is the relatively high weight that course knowledge plays in scoring compared with natural skill. Sure, players who throw pure will still score well, but that wily local throwing a firebird on a 200' hole can still take it to you just by having familiarity with the course subtleties after hundreds of recorded rounds.

Cons: You'll likely be throwing a large variety of shots off the tee, including trick shots galore; there just isn't all that much variety in distances or in the types of challenges. Most holes can be solved with a well thrown putter or quick sidearm. Because of this, some portions of the course can start to feel quite repetitive. I still found the replay value quite fun. If Coldbrook was a home course, I would be quite happy. As I mentioned in the 'pro's' section, course knowledge plays a huge role in scoring here. Locals who know which tree to throw that tomahawk at will be able to compete with the top notch visitors - this flies in the face of most traditional disc golf theory on what makes a good course and will probably not sit well with many serious golfers.

Other Thoughts: Coldbrook once held the 2008 Pro Worlds, I was very surprised by that. The maintenance was top notch Kudos to the local club for all of your hard work!

One of the best and most challenging courses in Southwest Lower Michigan. Is a highly technical course so you must have good accuracy to be successful here. Course is mostly flat and has hills on some holes and somewhat rough terrain from the tree roots. Some of the teepads have been redone and they look great. Course navigates really well. No complaints about this course just a few things to make it even better. Those would be: New teesigns most holes you can see the basket from the pad but on the holes that you cannot see the basket, a tee sign would be helpful. Next hole signs on some of the holes, soil/dirt or something to be placed on hole 18’s fairway would be very helpful as when a major rainstorm comes through. The fairway floods with water. Also the rough is pretty tall on some fairways so be sure to watch where your disc went or bring someone with you. Not sure what can be done about this but the closing off holes 19,20, and 21 on the weekends and holiday kinda sucks but understandable why the park enforces this rule. Other than these this course is excellent and is very fun to play!

You would need to be aware where other players were on the course at all times. If you like wooded courses with a bunch of birdie opportunities, this is a must play. I will be back! 91 out of 100.

Hole 4 is absolutely gorgeous! A lot of very tight short holes. There are 11 holes under 250 ft. Lots of variety. Up down Left Right Hidden Open. Basket and Next tee a little too close on many holes. I STILL WANT TO GO BACK. (only played 18).

This course has a few crappy baskets...too small of tee pads, and some of the rudest people I've met in my life at a disc golf course. They allow alcohol out here, so probably why. Have made at least four visits to this course, and always run into some inconsiderate jerks who could care less about etiquette. This course is super technical and can be very frustrating, but it is pretty. If I ever am able to come out here when it's a slow day, maybe wouldn't be so bad.

Lots of bugs and poison ivy though. If I was up in the area, I'd play it again, maybe with the wife and kiddo before making my way to one of the better local courses for a solo round.

Nice technical course. While many holes are short - the significant elevation changes and line needed for various holes makes it play quite different than a standard 200' "straight" throw. And, lots of obstacles (trees) prevent any easy ace lines to a basket. Holes 21-24 allow for some long drives. Course slightly favors a backhand righty, but for a lefty (me), allows some great opportunity to hone forehand drives that don't require great distance.

-Lots of "local" routes without which many of the lines appear almost unthrowable
-No hole really stands out in my mind other than the "UHH??" factor
-Tons of backups in tournament play
-Pay to play and yet they still have what appear to be the original baskets
-Overall I saw basically nothing that would make this an "A" rated course

Went and played it again and still feel pretty much the same. The first 4 holes are good and then the middle is just blah. Not a fan of holes that are 60% fairway and 40% pray you get through the trees since they are lacking real lines. After hole 17 things go back to being decent. They really should just cut down to 18 holes and make real holes instead of all the ~200' clowns mouth holes.

The up hill hyzer with a low ceiling but well kept rough was a welcome first hole and promised an interesting course. A lot of these holes have bird or ace potential and then some of them are just in range for par. A wide variety of holes on some good ground makes for a interesting round of discgolf. $5 for parking is worth it and this course will be played again for sure. The teepads are fantastic and they are marked well too. A couple of the holes play into the others and this could cause someone to get hurt or you to wait for a group ahead or behind you to finish. Even though alot of the holes were in birdy range the course still proved to be difficult. I'll probably play this course solo next time to see how I do, double scews the card quite a bit.

play this course enough and you will master your mental game. at least that's what al shack, tim weimer, david feldberg, and other great players have done out there. you learn how to roll with the punches. any decent player is physically capable of posting a 18-21 under here on a perfect round. but perfect rounds don't happen here. gotta take what you can get and stay in your game till the last putt goes in.
people that call this course luck-based don't know shit. luck might be a big factor out there some days, but it usually balances out. on a good day luck might help you out 3 or 4 throws, on a bad day it'll cost you that much. but that's about it. you don't shoot fifteen shots worse than your buddy because of bad luck out here. you shoot 15 shots worse than your buddy because coldbrook got to your head and you didn't shake it off.

Course is decent. Not my favorite, not very challenging and most importantly not very fair. Most of the lines are good but too many 200-250 anhyzers down tight lines. Bad kicks and roll-aways can significantly hurt your score as they frequently do. Signage is good and there is a large range of hole distances and varying fairways. My biggest problem with this course is that it seems as though the course is designed for discs that don't fly very far or fast so most holes are just short, tight and not very creative.

I love Cold Brook. Great variety of shots, good test of accuracy and holding lines, and a good mix of short tech and medium shots with a few longer holes. 18 gets kind of swampy during rainy seasons and thaws, it's the lowest hole there but kind of a cool challenge to clear the water. I've met nothing but friendly and cool people here, and the locals seem to respect the course pretty well. Hole #2 is my favorite shot here.
