Wow, sounds like somebody had a bad round.
I love Cold Brook. Great variety of shots, good test of accuracy and holding lines, and a good mix of short tech and medium shots with a few longer holes. 18 gets kind of swampy during rainy seasons and thaws, it's the lowest hole there but kind of a cool challenge to clear the water. I've met nothing but friendly and cool people here, and the locals seem to respect the course pretty well. Hole #2 is my favorite shot here.

play this course enough and you will master your mental game. at least that's what al shack, tim weimer, david feldberg, and other great players have done out there. you learn how to roll with the punches. any decent player is physically capable of posting a 18-21 under here on a perfect round. but perfect rounds don't happen here. gotta take what you can get and stay in your game till the last putt goes in.
people that call this course luck-based don't know shit. luck might be a big fa ...

Coldbrook is a fun course with a bit of everything. Open, woods, left, right, down, up, elevation, accuracy, distance, water. 24 holes and alcohol is allowed :)
If you are in the area, don't miss this one.

Great park, great layout, challenging shot's, great atmosphere!

A challenging and well designed 18/24 hole technical wooded course with variety, elevation, tight lines, some blind shots and thick rough. No water hazards. Needs better signage and baskets and a few more trash cans. The varied pads are still decent. The course is in a clean and maintained multi use park with camping and swimming. Opens at 7 am, $5 entrance fee.

I firmly believe if you can hit your lines here, than you can do it anywhere. This coarse has helped produce four world champions. With shoots 250' and in you'll see on numerous coarses in mich. Like any other place, Bring your putter.

Decent course. Could use some new tees and updates, but all in all not bad. A lot of "poke and hope" holes, with only 1 definitive line, which can make repeat rounds kinda boring. Lots of bugs and poison ivy though. If I was up in the area, I'd play it again, maybe with the wife and kiddo before making my way to one of the better local courses for a solo round.

fun challenging course that will test every shot u have and putting here is crucial to capitalize when u can because count on hitting some trees and unexpected bogeys.

The up hill hyzer with a low ceiling but well kept rough was a welcome first hole and promised an interesting course. A lot of these holes have bird or ace potential and then some of them are just in range for par. A wide variety of holes on some good ground makes for a interesting round of discgolf. $5 for parking is worth it and this course will be played again for sure. The teepads are fantastic and they are marked well too. A couple of the holes play into the others and this could cause ...

Very high fun factor. Laid back atmosphere. Park staff is reasonable general good upkeep.

Great layout and basket placement...pretty challenging if you've never played this course but there's definitely a variety of shots with some elevation changes. Some water at play.

This is a great course to practice your finesse game. Shape your shots and roll with the punches. Hit an early tree and test your scrambling skills. Hit a late tree and test your putting skills. Hit all the trees and go meditate on the lakefront beach that sits a hundred feet away from hole#1 basket. Always good people around.

It is a very good course. Lots of very tough and interesting lines to play. Make sure you pay the $5 to park because they monitor it very well and if you don't pay it is a $100 fine.
+1 votes Brent Beard › March 13, 2012
Very nice course, but the pay to park is kind of rediculous if your not going to staff the park or even unlock the bathrooms.

Grew up in Climax; Were it all begain!!!! Love Cold Brook 1st course ever played!!
+1 votes Lanny Potts › May 22, 2015
Nice technical course. While many holes are short - the significant elevation changes and line needed for various holes makes it play quite different than a standard 200' "straight" throw. And, lots of obstacles (trees) prevent any easy ace lines to a basket. Holes 21-24 allow for some long drives. Course slightly favors a backhand righty, but for a lefty (me), allows some great opportunity to hone forehand drives that don't require great distance.

Coldbrook is one of the best courses in the area, Leila is not. This course have great variety but to be honest there are local routes you learn as you go. First time was miserable for a European used to open fairways but a few weeks into it, starting to love it! A group of different skill sets would all do well here.
+1 votes Brandon Schmuker › October 16, 2018
A lot a holes begging to be aced. The course demands you hit your lines to card a decent score. May or may not have to pay to get into the course on certain days of the week.
+1 votes Jordan Snyder › November 15, 2013
Fun every time I go. If you miss your lines, it's very frustrating, so there's more incentive to focus and get better.
+1 votes Caleb Bowen › July 19, 2014
Nice looking course! Fun to play with a pretty forgiving rough.

Love the course .....lots of shade....great fairways...maintained very well ...awesome day of disc golf...everything just felt great!!!!!!
+1 votes Keith kinzler › July 23, 2015
Very woody and tight. Overall well maintained. Lots of mosquitoes!
+1 votes Kris VanBogelen › July 28, 2015
Very few holes that actually have a flight path. You basically have to get lucky to make it around all the trees. Well taken care of though.
+1 votes Rodney L › July 15, 2015
This is another nice course in the Kalamazoo area. It is shorter for the most part but very playable and really fun. There are a lot of great holes here. Be sure to play the last 6, but bring some water discs. These are some very picturesque disc golf holes. Well groomed too!

sweet course, i like the new layout, havent been there in awhile and they do a great job at maintaining the course

Played this for Worlds 2015, tons of fun great course. The lines were a little tight for me, quite a few were sort of throw and pray. PAR 76 course that is 6436 feet with 4 longer par fours.

Really nice course, good lines, ready for the cracked plastic.

Way to many tree's for me. Very tough course. This course will test yours skills.

Not a bad course, i didn't get to play the alternates though.

very nice all around course. Great open areas along with many wooded shots, OB and water hazards. many elevation changes, beautiful course
+0 votes Matthew Holuszko › September 13, 2011
Began playing here in '94. Have heard people say that the course requires luck ever since I started. Strange that most good players have always scored under par consistently. Anyhow, great course for practicing finesse and control. Do not throw big, throw accurate.

High difficulty precision shooting but all but 3 holes are dueceable by me. The most fun and rewarding disc golfing you can have.

very nice course, like the cement pads, as well as the various length of the holes.

Another one of Kalamazoo's top courses. lots of trees, and a few shots for us lefties. great variation, few holes to open up on, and lots of holes to shape lines on. pay to get into the park but well worth it. Always clean and a favorite for the locals.
+0 votes Nathan Stover › April 25, 2012

Great course and sweet layout. Some pads could use some love thou.
+0 votes Robin WW › July 5, 2016
Great Course!! But Too many short holes. Only one Tee and Basket for 24 holes , but the park does not allow play on 4 holes (right of way to picnickers) on the weekends. Hole 4 is absolutely gorgeous! A lot of very tight short holes. There are 11 holes under 250 ft. Lots of variety. Up down Left Right Hidden Open. Basket and Next tee a little too close on many holes. I STILL WANT TO GO BACK. (only played 18).

This is an amazing course. The locals are wonderful and respect the course. Its is well kept and cleaned. The hole arrangement is wonderful and all holes are easily to find. The course has wonderful flow. The holes themselves are a perfect mix of long/short, righty/lefty. Excellent course!
+0 votes Bryan Jones › August 8, 2012
Nice course with plenty of obstacles to make it challenging. There are a few water hazards that make even experienced players worry of losing a disc.
+0 votes dave gardner › August 12, 2012
The most tight course Ive ever played and yet still had fun doing so. Power throws here are a very bad idea. Its all about placement and patience..dont get frustrated by ping pong trees..
+0 votes Josh Pena › June 24, 2013
Challenging course that is very well maintained. The lines can be frustrating for a beginner and seasoned player. The course is fairly technical and is worth the play the extra holes make this a nice course worth the destination trip and the elevation changes are a fun change of pace from some of the other area courses.

Glad we played this course as we were passing through. Nicely done on just about everything. Definitely check this one out.
+0 votes Moses Pigeon › September 2, 2013
Course is fun, well designed for challenging shots. Some birdie and ace opportunities and lots of woods.
+0 votes Aaron Goofy Mitchell › February 15, 2016
Loved the course and shots...one thing I don't like is how you can be teeing off or putting and there's 3 baskets/pads within 50ft
+0 votes Chris sias › January 19, 2018
pads on top of baskets on top of other pads. made for a slow unsafe round. sometimes less is more.
+0 votes mike Harper › July 17, 2015
I liked the course. It's unfortunate that you can't play the full 24 holes on the weekends. The park is nice, it's a great place to bring the whole family? Friendly bunch of golfers.

One of the best and most challenging courses in Southwest Lower Michigan. Is a highly technical course so you must have good accuracy to be successful here. Course is mostly flat and has hills on some holes and somewhat rough terrain from the tree roots. Some of the teepads have been redone and they look great. Course navigates really well. No complaints about this course just a few things to make it even better. Those would be: New teesigns most holes you can see the basket from the pad but on ...

Great course, love the extra holes. Very technical with some long and technical holes. This course will build up your immunity to poison ivy, and hate the entry fee

Love this place! Fun and Technical! Playing here every week, would make you a better disc golfer and human being!
Pros: Coldbrook Park has always been one of the classic Michigan courses that everyone talks about - usually either folks love it or hate it but it seems to have maintained a special character that keeps people coming back. A 'pro' or a 'con' depending on the way you look at it, but Coldbrook demands that you learn lines (some of which are a bit hidden) that yield higher percent ...

I enjoyed this course. Played it on a weekday afternoon so it wasn't very busy. I can imagine on the weekend this course could be very crowded. You would need to be aware where other players were on the course at all times. If you like wooded courses with a bunch of birdie opportunities, this is a must play. I will be back! 91 out of 100.
+0 votes Ryan Milka › August 6, 2020
Challenging long course. Can't go wrong with 24 holes of golf. Have to go in with an open mindset because after the first tree hit it doesn't get any easier. Fun course, worth the price of admission; challenges shot accuracy and touch.

Great blend of open and wooded holes, elevation, and scenic views, and water only on a few holes. Challenging for all levels of play. Property that is ideal for a disc golf course. Should be on every top 20 list for the state. Camping and swimming amenities on-site.

This course has a great mixture between wooded and open holes, which allows for some birdies and bogeys.

My first course years ago. Played this course more than any other. Short with nasty, mean, random trees. Teaches the benefit of developing your mid range precision game. Nice design.
-2 votes Jamie Vincent › July 18, 2015
Very challenging course,,,hit your lines and be rewarded, hit trees and good luck..cement pads with benches on most holes..very well defined fairways with not to much rough. Lots of trees..

If you like tite shots and a challenge or to better ur game, cold brooks great for u!
-2 votes Tim L › September 8, 2015
This course has a few crappy baskets...too small of tee pads, and some of the rudest people I've met in my life at a disc golf course. They allow alcohol out here, so probably why. Have made at least four visits to this course, and always run into some inconsiderate jerks who could care less about etiquette. This course is super technical and can be very frustrating, but it is pretty. If I ever am able to come out here when it's a slow day, maybe wouldn't be so bad.

I helped in the design and building of this course and although I love it personally I can only give it a C when compared to other area courses.

Pros
-24 holes
-Elevation
-Tee pads and baskets were in ok shape but baskets were quite old and low to the ground
Cons
-Navigation was interesting if not accompanied by a local
-Lots of "local" routes without which many of the lines appear almost unthrowable
-No hole really stands out in my mind other than the "UHH??" factor
-Tons of backups in tournament play
-Pay to play and yet they still have what appear to be the original baskets
-Overall I saw basically nothing that would make ...

Course is decent. Not my favorite, not very challenging and most importantly not very fair. Most of the lines are good but too many 200-250 anhyzers down tight lines. Bad kicks and roll-aways can significantly hurt your score as they frequently do. Signage is good and there is a large range of hole distances and varying fairways. My biggest problem with this course is that it seems as though the course is designed for discs that don't fly very far or fast so most holes are just short, tight and not very creative.
