The new layout at Marion (Summer 2019) is a big step up from the previous course layout. They have added concrete tees and have changed the layout of almost every hole. Still a good course for beginners, as it is very flat and open, but it's more difficult than the old layout, and a lot more fun. If you haven't been in awhile I'd recommend checking it out again.

On the previous layout if you had a consistent 300ft straight/hyzer shot you could easily birdie every hole. The new 2019 layout brings some much needed variety (and tee pads!) to the course. I learned to play here so it's really nice to see Marion getting some love. A lot of work went into this and I'm REALLY digging all the changes. I'd personally like to see a donation box or something like they have at The Gultch to help keep up with course maintenance. They've added a lot of difficulty to the course but I think it's still pretty beginner friendly

Hole 1 - ???? - No longer a straight shot to the basket, teepad moved to the LH side and at an angle to force more of a RHBH hyzer shot

Hole 2 - ???? - Tee pad has been moved tighter to the trees on the LH side. Shot shape didn't change much, just have to hang your disc a little wider and higher to avoid catching late trees

Hole 3 - ???? - Was hole 4 originally. Pretty much unchanged, was already a pretty good hole

Hole 4 - ???? - Was hole 5 originally. Pretty much unchanged, "confidence builder"

Hole 5 - ???? - New hole, it's a bit tighter than the course map graphic implies. You can just go over all the foliage pretty easily with a high soft anhyzer shot, it's downhill so don't throw too hard. I don't have a good forehand but I imagine you could do that as well, foliage is tight to the RH of tee box blocking a straight hyzer shot

Hole 6 - ???? - New hole, plays longer than it looks. As long as you can make it up the hill your disc should fade in the direction of the basket (RHBH)

Hole 7 - ???? - Was hole 6 originally. This is pretty much the only change I don't really like. Tee pad seems like it was moved further left which is unfortunate since it brings the big tree out of play for the hyzer shot. Before you risked hitting the tree or going long if you threw straight at it. Now you can just pump a little hyzer and the only danger is rolling or getting stuck in a bush.

Hole 8 - ???? - Was hole 7 originally. Basket location has been moved back behind the tree line. There is a small gap to throw through which forces a dead straight shot to reach the basket in one, or a layup to the gap to get there in two with the second shot being a long runnable putt. If you can pump a mid that far I'd do that.

Hole 9 - ???? - Was hole 8 originally. Tee has been moved behind the tree line with a small gap to drive through. As of time of writing it doesn't really feel get-able(for me at least) with the length of the hole and the low initial ceiling on the gap, but I foresee lots of discs cutting down the low hanging branches as the course gets broken in. I don't know exactly how long the hole is as the tee signs weren't up yet but if I had to take a guess I'd say 330ish?

Hole 10 - ???? - New hole, not too difficult but if you misjudge the distance you'll hyzer out into a bunch of bushes.

Hole 11 - ???? - New hole. Big wide grouping of tree/foliage in the middle of the fairway. It's a shorter hole so if you have the distance with a grenade I'd just do that.

Hole 12 - ???? - New island hole. It's like... Upshot distance. If I had to take a guess I'd say the island is 30ft radius around the basket. At worst you're going to be taking an edge of circle putt for par if you don't make the island (if it's even the designer's intent, I assume it is)

Hole 13 - ???? - New hole, not really a good or bad hole. Marion's land is pretty limited in terms of being nearly completely barren of natural obstacles so they're obviously working with what they got here.

Hole 14 - ???? - New hole, simple hyzer shot

Hole 15 - ???? - Easily my favorite hole. Two trees directly to the left and right of the tee blocking backhand or forehand hyzer shots. You HAVE to put flex on your drive and trust it to fight out around the late tree if you want to have a chance at birdie. This one feels so good to get

Hole 16 - ???? - Not sure what the mando is? Don't go over the road?

Hole 17 - ???? - This is a long one, not difficult of you have the power to get there (not I), but most people should be able to get up and down for 3

Hole 18 - ???? - Like hole 9 but more reachable. Danger from the small gap and low ceiling on the drive and risk of roll-aways on the green. Judging by all the branches on the ground, high speed drivers are taking care of the low ceiling part :P I threw 4 drives on this one and was able to get there one time for a birdie look. I really like this hole too

Great course for beginners. Most holes are straight runs with no obstacles. Nothing too difficult. Basically all holes are birdy holes. It's not too bad of a course for the experienced, either, as you can play to perfect form or throw some new discs around. Average hole length is around 240', only hole 1 is more than 300'.The back 9 can get somewhat confusing, but just follow the direction of the tee-pads.

Decent distance on some holes. Hole 11 easy birdie/Ace hole to build confedience. Hole 5-12 almost dead Straight in open field, not very technical. Hole 12 road hazard. Hole 1 and 18 over large valley. Hole 2 fenced in area hazard. Hole 3 Anhyser. Hole 4 and 17 have a dip to uphill. Hole 15 and 16 have minor tree hazard. Hole 13 Basket is in Trees. Hole 14 Tee off over ~80ft pond. No Cement Tee pads. Hole 6,7,8,9,10,11 Have benches for bags/seating. Large Seating area under gazebo by 14 tee/ 15 basket. Porta-potty by 16 tee.

One water hole. This is what I would call a putter and midrange course.Thats the only way to maximize the challenge level of holes that are mostly under 300ft. Great for starters in the game and rec players. This course has a lot of potential but really need to look at extending some hole before pouring cement for pads. Even if that means some new measurements on the markers. I looked it over and there options out there. Some holes infringe on others. Lots of aceable holes. Does need trees for obstructions. There's a few real cool holes but could be super sick with some tweaking. Would love help make this a better course cause its a good start.A good little course in a great places. Good for new players and some good practice for the players who play more.
Not very busy, at least for today. was able to breeze through 3 rounds in a very quick amount of time.
Some baskets and tee locations a little close on a couple holes.
Holes 8 through 12, very wide open not a single tree to smash your disc into. Great for practicing them 200-300 straight as an arrow drives, with a little 155 footer thrown in at #11. Now then hole #13, looks good to shot but man I think when the little sapplings grow to the left of the basket, it will be damn near impossible to hit in one shot. #14 is a very nice looking shot over the little pond. Could have been a little longer on both ends. !5 is a nice shot...just hope no one gets hyzered sitting in the gazebo waiting their turn to shot #14. Number 17, nice and easy, mostly straight shot, however it would be nice to have atleast the center of the hole mowed. !8 is the same way. Makes for crapping conditions early in the morning games because of the wet grass. Atleast its the last two holes so you can hope the grass dries before you get to them.

edit..to the d-bags that kicked the shoes into the pond on #14...I hope the fleas of a million camels invades your crotch. Dont mess up the course with your trash you F-tards.

We had a great opening day. In regards to the request for cement tees and more trees on the back nine we are looking for donations. Trash cans should be in shortly. Please remember the course was a result of donations and installed by volunteers. Please respect the property and be mindful of players on other holes since the course is a little tight at times, as the designer I worked very hard to utilize all of the property and its features.
