Getting started in 2016.

Let's try some more...In the comments section here, players can notify club members that they have posted on their INDIVIDUAL DGS page a list of events they hope/plan to play. This may help concentrate our appearances and coordinate travel where that is suitable.

Also...When we meet this year, it will be good to recognize where Masters events have occurred (Michigan Masters,June 11), and to imagine together how more of these can be held next year. First time Events and TDs may be part of the discussions.

Discussion topics:

Masters+ events have occurred in prior years and there is at least one this year (Michigan Masters, June 11, Reed park). Much gratitude goes to those who organize such events. Limited time and space considerations can effect the opportunities for the less popular divisions in some of the big all-divisions tournaments; organizers can usually predict the player spots needed, but they cannot easily build the courses in a vicinity to insure that smaller divisions have equitable access to quality cou ... more

The 2016 Michigan Senior Olympics Disc Golf Tournament will be held at Oakland University Disc Golf Course in August. I am targeting the 21st as it is within the Michigan Senior Olympics 2 week window and I am running a Featured Event the week before. Saturday the 20th is a possibility but it is also Dream Cruise Saturday so that is a tough one ...

PDGA Tier B is given...

For the May 9 Masters Open in Ypsilanti. Not only is it now Tier B, the number of holes look to be more manageable. The popularity of this event was high on the recent survey (unsanctioned group). Expect more registrations from those waiting for the tier approval.

Looks to be a good event. Honestly, I was kind of waiting until Terry kind of got his act together. There was a serious lack of information for a while. I also, like some, tried to sign up and found the mandatory t shirt cost. I understand that has been fixed. I will work on my schedule here soon and hope to sign up.

I'm in. Looking forward to this event.

Handicap scoring

After a little web-surfing I see that PDGA has acknowledged a proprietary (trademarked) system done by Discgolfunited. It relies heavily on the PDGA player ratings and appears to have relabeled known features such as the Scratch Scoring Averages found with PDGA. The thing being marketed may be the software used to make it all work at a particular event (no small thing). Playing 20-questions with the folks at Discgolfunited would help with our estimate of the usefulness of the program, but it will also look like we are trying to re-assemble the elements into a different but competitive program.

Great idea! There was six adv. grandmasters in one of my last tournaments and it was great having that many.

Fred Vocino   April 28, 2013 at 3:06pm

I saw that bunch. I might have been there if I could have fit it in my plans.

Jeff "Heyman" Schropp   April 29, 2013 at 1:05pm

Great idea, Fred. I will be playing DGLO.
