If you want in the fun, please register or get 30 bucks to Mickey by then. We will be playing The Pond with shortened holes between 180-200ft which increases your chances for an Ace greatly! It's August 1st and we finally have a green light to proceed with the tee pad installation at The Pond in Painesville Recreation Park! Currently our contractor has a backlog of work and will not be able to start until mid-August. In order to make way for this project to continue, there are a few baskets and tee locations that will need to be moved. I will give details on that later, but what we really need now is some guys who are willing to help out and see this project through. Most of us work during the week which makes moving these things difficult. Since we don't want to limit our manpower, we are having Painesville City Park dig the new basket holes and all we will need to do is dig up the old ones (four total) and move them to their new locations (with concrete in tact) and spread some more concrete over top and around the base. We are looking to do this on Saturday's and Sunday's. If you are willing to help, please let us know what Saturday's and Sunday's you are open to help in August. Also let us know if you have shovels and or wheel barrows you can bring to help make the move. We are almost done with the course and look forward to working together to complete it! Thanks in advance for your volunteer service.

We have tentatively set the grand openings of the newly expanded 18 hole course. Tuesday, July 26 at 4pm will be the grand opening for Painesville City. Saturday, July 30th at 10am for the entire disc golf community. During these dates there will be a course dedication, acknowledgement of sponsors, and open disc golf. Please join us for one of those dates as we celebrate the first 18 hole disc golf course opening in Lake County!

This could be the last winter before disc golf takes its first step into the mainstream. There's been a couple of ESPN ace highlights in the past year. The sports network sees it as a novel, quirky highlight opportunity to keep viewers' attention, and the interest of the broader publicly may have been collectively piqued? In 2016 the mainstream sports fans will be able to take a closer look. There will be 3 new pro-tours debuting next year with strong financial backing, including a world tour and two espn broadcasts confirmed. What will they think? Will it be taken seriously?

What Discs Are You Looking For? & Save The Date!
Play It Again Sports is teaming up with Painesville Disc Golf to hold another fundraiser for a day at the store in Mayfield. The date has been set for Saturday, March 12th from 10am to 7pm. Make sure you put that date on your calendar so you can help us raise money to make Painesville the first 18 hole disc golf course in Lake County! In the meantime, we could use some feedback from you to make this event a huge success. Please reply to this post and let us know what discs(s) you are looking to buy in the future. List the disc manufacturer, model, weight range, and color (if you have a preference). We will compile a list of all the requested discs and submit them to Play It Again Sports in time for them to place an order at the end of February. The discs should arrive in time for the fundraising event in March. This way you will be helping a business and a disc golf course all at the same time. Not to mention you will get what you want as well! Please pass this on to other disc golfers and those that don’t play as all purchases made on March 12th will benefit the course. 6/30 Tue 8-5pm auger locations for collets/tee signs & pour concrete
7/1 Wed 8-5pm auger locations for collets/tee signs & pour concrete
7/2 Thu 8-5pm assemble/install baskets & tee signs
7/3 Fri 8-5pm assemble/install baskets & tee signs

If you plan to help with pouring concrete, there is no need to bring any equipment as the park is providing it all.
If you plan to help with the assembly of the baskets, please bring a socket wrench set with you if you have one.

Help Needed For Painesville Course Install!
As this gets posted, equipment for the course is starting to roll in. It's a very exciting time for Painesville Disc Golf! That being said, we are in need of help for the course install. We are looking for both experienced and those that have never installed a course before to help. The main duties included mixing and pouring concrete as the City of Painesville will be digging holes for us with an auger. We will also need someone to help make sure the installed baskets are level and at the correct height. The work dates have not been assigned yet, but we are looking to start sometime around the week of June 22nd. Saturday's are the most likely days for the install, but we will not rule out evenings during the week if that works better for most. Join us on April 11th as we start the new adventure of planning out and funding The new course here in Painesville at Painesville Recreation Park,, 33 Mill St. Painesville, Oh. We will meet at the back pavillion and throw 2 rounds of Nine with all entry fee going into the Construction Fund. We will also have a chance to discuss hole placement etc as a group. Entry will be 20 dollars! We will have two divisions intermediate and novice, and will have disc prizes to 3rd place in each division. We are throwing this tournament to donate as Painesville Disc Golf Club to add to the donations both personal and business! We are starting to close in on our first goal of raising money for the first nine, but still have a way to go! We will have snack and water for the event!! Hello. My name is Greg Miller. I have just started playing disc golf this past summer and immediately got hooked! Since playing most of the courses in the area, I have realized there is quite a distance between the local courses. After talking with a few guys about what it takes to get a course installed, I have been in touch with the Painesville Recreation Department as well as Mickey Anderson, who for the last few years, have been trying to accomplish the same thing. Next month we have a meeting scheduled to finalize the details of putting a disc golf course in Painesville Recreation Park! We have a lot of work ahead of us, but all signs are pointing in the right direction. This winter we will continue to do some fundraising which will involve acquiring donations from local business' and putting on a few fundraising events, the first of which will be a disc golf tournament held at Painesville Recreation Park with temporary baskets on Sunday, November 2nd. I am posting this to raise awareness in the disc golf community and to ask for your support. If you have any questions, or would like to get involved in helping us with this effort, please send me or Mickey a private message. I look forward to making this a reality in bringing disc golf to Painesville!
