Yesterday was perfect for a round of random doubles at Freedom Park. With 4 teams of 2 we all played on one card and it was a lot of fun! Joe and Aaron were partners and combined for 12 birdies, stringing the last 7 together for a dominating -12, 43 to take the day.

The teams of Cassie & Jeremy and Kris & Jim tied for second at -3, 52. Randy & Jenna rounded out the card with a +2, 57. Randy tried to sink a birdie putt on hole 10 between the trees but ended up chaining out to the right.

The next league season will be starting on Saturday, September 12. Stay tuend for the schedule and format.

So as to not confuse anyone we will call this the big tournament, apparently mini tournament made some of us think we were using minis, just kidding!

Coming to Ridgecrest January 10 is another beast mode style course, with 7 par 3s, 4 par 4s and 2 par 5s. The 13 hole course will be played twice for a total of 26 holes. (Maybe once depending on what everyone thinks)

This event will be pay to play, for the most part! Advanced, int, and womens (unless its just Cassie then she would be paying herself) division will be pay to play, and rec will be free!!!!!! Anyone can play rec that doesnt want to pay, or if you only want to play one round and call it quits!!!!! I understand some people dont feel its worth it to pay to play disc golf, so we wont make you. Rec players will not be eligible for prizes, unless they pay the ctp entry fee. All money will stay within division! with a 100% pay out paid out to to top 40%ish (subject to change).

The entry fee can be paid in 3 ways
1. $14
2. $8 plus a disc (can be used)
3. 2 discs (can be used) + $2 for ctp
----$2 will go to an overall

If discs are used as the entry fee they will be used as part of the payout to the winners.

1st and 2nd place are garunteed a new disc ON TOP of their share of the cash pay out.

The 2 day tournament at Mt. High, Wrightwood, CA was played this past weekend, Aug 2-3. Tommy, Randy and Jim took a league week off at Freedom Park to play the 27 hole course that is laid out across the ski slopes.

Tommy played in the Advanced division with his player rating of 942. Day 1 ended with Tommy at even par, 83, and tied for 15th place. Day 2 had overtones of dark clouds with rain due-in. The round started and off we went only to get about half way through the round before lightening halted play and ultimately ended the tournament. After the scores were counted for round 2 Tommy was in the same position as when he started. Better luck next year Tommy.

Randy and Jim registered in the Recreational division and played fairly well for day 1 coming in at 87 (+4) and 86 (+3), respectively. Those scores put Jim tied for 6th place and Randy in 8th place. Not being able to complete our round 2 due to weather, Jim lost a couple positions and finished in 8th place. Randy also slide down the board by one position finishing tied for 9th place. We all had a great time and look forward to next year’s tournament.

During the awards presentation there is a huge raffle that consists of discs, swag and baskets. All of the HMDG players got to turn in a couple raffle tickets each bringing home some more disc golf goodies.

Summer league will be starting on Saturday, May 17 at 9 am. The league will run 14 weeks ending August 16. At the end of the league, your top 10 rounds based on points earned for handicap scores will be used for league standings. Existing handicaps will be adjusted to 80%.

Your weekly points are calculated by awarding 1 point for each player your handicap adjusted score is lower then; for the week; plus 1 for showing up. Example: If you throw a 57 and your handicap is -2, your adjusted score is 55. If 10 people from your division play that week and your adjusted score of 55 is lower then 6 other players (you beat 6 players with your handicap adjusted score) – your points for that week will be 6 plus 1 for showing up – for a total of 7.

The same layout from Pre-Spring league will be used for the summer league. Thank you to everyone that has supported the league with your portable basket.
