Just wanted to let everyone know that we will be hosting a winter league this season, it will just be delayed for longer than normal. For personal reasons I will be taking a short hiatus from playing and running leagues. I'll be shooting for sometime later in October to begin again, possibly the Sunday after Halloween. I hope to see everyone out when we start again, and look forward to being fresh after a long break. Thanks everyone for your support.

Just a reminder to all local club members that our biggest tournament of the season, the 3rd Annual Tribal Gathering, is being held THIS weekend at Victory Park in Albion, MI! We don't have a big local showing as of right now, and I just wanted to remind you guys that this is a great opportunity to come out and get your berth to States from your own club. I'd love to be able to hand out some berths to the local crew. Hope to see many of you out there!

This Sunday, March 22nd, is the final day of 2014-2015 LDT Winter Dubs. It is also the last day we will be competing for winter tags. We will not be hosting a bag tag challenge this year, so we are going to incorporate as much of that fun stuff as possible this Sunday!

We will be playing 2 rounds (first round 18 holes and second TBD). You will have a different partner for each round. After the initial 18 we will gather at hole 1 and draw again for the second round. Any players who cannot, or do not want to, play the second round can leave, but tags will not be distributed until the end.

Cost for league will be the same as always, but there will be many more CTP prizes added to give everyone a chance at winning something cool. I can't bring all the plastic, but I will bring several totes out. Two Berths to the Michigan State Championships will also be given out to the winners of winter league points!

Everyone (league member or otherwise) is welcome to come out and join us this Sunday for a day of fun! Hoping to see a lot of people out there. See you all Sunday!

LDT is hosting a doubles tourney at Victory Park tomorrow, 9/21/14, so many of us will be out there attending. I'm sure a few die hard Sunday players will still be out at Big Portage to play a round, but it might only be a few. Keep in mind that our official winter league begins on 10/5/14! Bag tag packages will be available then, and it's going to be another great winter season!!

This Thursday night, May 1st, the club will be holding a meeting at Chase Sports Bar in downtown Jackson at 7pm. We will have a short agenda, but the items we have will be discussed in detail. Chief among these is the JCC disc golf course and how we are going to move forward with the new construction of this course. We are very much in need of some people to step up and help us make this happen. We've set a deadline to be finished by this Fall, so it's really important that we start seriously discussing who can make what happen, and when. LDT will provide beverages for whomever shows up. Please come out and show your support for the club and help us complete our vision for the new JCC course!

Just wanted to provide some updates and give some reminders about our upcoming events. First off, bag tags. We've been having issues getting our tag holders to league rounds lately, especially the top 10 tags for some reason. Just so everyone knows we will be instituting a new rule for tag holders in the summer that requires that you play 1 round per month. If you have a top 10 tag please try and make it out to league so we can get some of them back in circulation!



Lost Disc Tribe has a variety of events that have been posted for the calendar year 2014 (5 as of this post). League members, and other tourney players, please take a few minutes to look over what we have in store on our home page under "upcoming events." We've got a lot of fun stuff coming up! Show your support for disc golf and a local club. For all of our tag holders, don't forget about our bag tag challenge on May 3rd. It's only $10 for tag holders and there will be a TON of awesome prizes, free food, and all you can drink beer for $5 (includes a custom LDT aluminum bottle to drink from!) Cost of the tourney for non-tag holders is $25. I've only got 5 people signed up so far, and I'm trying to get an idea of how many we will have so I can prepare. Only those who pre-regged will get the custom aluminum bottle with their beer. All others will have to drink from their cupped hands lol.



Our next tourney is the Snow 'N Throw Ice Bowl on 2/22/14! Come out and show your support for this great fundraising event. All proceeds go to the local Interfaith Shelter. They help feed and clothe the homeless, which is especially important during this incredibly cold winter. We have over 25 sponsors and will be giving away about $1000 in raffle prizes and CTPs. We're already a quarter full with about a month to go, so I anticipate that it will fill. Sign up and reserve your spot today! Cashless pre-reg is welcome.

The following are the Lost Disc Tribe Rules for the Winter League 2013-2014 season:

During a league round all members will be expected to follow PDGA guidelines and be respectful towards other participating members (this includes your doubles partner). Violations of this rule will result first in a warning, but if further violations are committed then a league ban may be instituted for that individual.

The number of players participating in a league round will determine the number of places that will be paid out. 8 or less players pays 1 spot (100% for 1st). 9-17 players pays 2 spots (70% for 1st, 30% for 2nd). 18-26 players pays 3 spots (65% for 1st, 25% for 2nd, 15% for 3rd). 27 or more players pays 4 spots (50% for 1st, 25% for 2nd, 15% for 3rd, 10% for 4th). Numbers will be rounded to reflect whole dollar amounts.

In the event of a tie for cash winnings (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.), those winnings will be determined by a CTP hole that will be played to the practice basket from a pre-determined location. There will be no playoffs for any place.

In order to be eligible for points in a league round you must complete the round. If you do not complete the round then you forfeit any entry fee/ace pool/ctp money that you submitted, your name will not be added to the list of participants that played on Disc Golf Scene, and you will not receive any league points for the round. You will also be given the lowest bag tag that is up for grabs that day.

If, during a round, your partner forfeits and you decide to finish the round without him/her, then you will retain your current score and play Cali for the remainder of the round. If your partner leaves and you choose not to finish the round, then you are eligible to receive a refund for your entry fee ($5). Ace pool and ctp money will not be refunded, and you will receive no league points for the round if you choose not to continue.

If you are playing Cali during a round and you get a hole-in-one (ace) on a Cali shot (second shot) from the tee, this does NOT count as an ace towards the ace pool. An ace only counts towards the ace pool for Cali if it is their first shot from the tee. You will still receive a 1 on the hole for a second shot ace, but will not get paid out for an ace. As always, Cali does not pay any extra when playing in our league (even if Cali is chosen or flipped for). There will be no extra league points awarded for an ace during league for anyone.

If you are a tag holder, but did not bring your tag to league play, then you are still eligible for the full ace pool benefits, however you are NOT eligible for the free CTP, and you will not be playing for tags during that league round.

Each round that a tag holder does not bring his/her tag will result in a strike. After three (3) strikes the tag member will receive one (1) penalty stroke that will be accrued during the Winter's End Bag Tag Challenge at the end of the winter season. For every three (3) strikes received, one (1) stroke will be added. This rule is NOT retroactive.

There will be two (2) berths awarded for winners of Winter League Points and one (1) berth awarded to the winner of the Winter’s End Bag Tag Challenge (i.e. the person holding the #1 tag at the end of the challenge). If the person who wins the bag tag challenge has already secured a berth through Winter League Points, then the berth will be awarded to the 3rd place winner of Winter League Points, NOT the #2 tag holder.

If you choose to bring a youth (under the age of 16) to league that is fine, but you will automatically be partnered with that youth. You will both still be responsible for normal league dues. Youth tees will now be set up for each league round.

Female players (over the age of 16) will be entered into the random draw with all the other players, but will also be eligible to play from short tees depending on level of ability (determined by league administrators).

If, during a round, an administrative personnel (Jason Cassidy or Ben Ross) determines that weather conditions are too dangerous to continue, then the round will be stopped and scores will be determined on a fair value system. For instance, if each team has played 12 holes, but only 8 were the same holes, then the scores for those 8 holes will determine the winner.

In order to foster respect for the game of disc golf, intentional cheating in any form will not be tolerated by Lost Disc Tribe. If a group reports that an individual player or team has intentionally cheated during a round (this includes, but is not limited to, pencil whipping, reporting an incorrect score to the score keeper, moving your disc closer to the basket for a better lie, or altering the opposing team's disc in any way) then that group or individual will receive ONE warning. However, if the league administrators deem that the infraction is too severe to warrant only a warning, then that individual(s) may be immediately banned from the Lost Disc Tribe league. If it is determined that only a warning will be issued, then those involved will forfeit their round. This means that those in violation are not eligible for league points or prizes, and will forfeit their league dues/ace pool/ctp monies for the day. If that individual(s) is EVER associated with another intentional cheating infraction, then they will automatically be banned from Lost Disc Tribe league.

If there are any disputes regarding the rules as they are written, or if there is a rule that must be proposed on site due to a new issue, then the league administrators (Jason Cassidy and/or Ben Ross) hold carte blanche over any decision made regarding those disputes.

LDT is hosting a bring your own partner doubles event on November 16th and everyone is invited to come out and play! We will be playing 2 rounds of 18 holes at Big Portage Lake DGC in Grass Lake, MI. First round is a normal best shot doubles round. Second round is also best shot doubles, but with a twist. Final format of second round will be announced on the day of the tourney, but will include some special rules for each hole such as mando forehand, mando overhand, mando roller, putter only, driver only, etc. All AM players get a tourney stamped disc as their player's pack and there will be CTP prizes for each division. Lost Disc Tribe is a new club that was formed by dedicated disc golfers in the Jackson, MI area. The previous club that was located in the area has been combined with this new one, and we've expanded our reach to include Victory Park in Albion. The three courses (JCC, Big Portage, and Victory Park) present a great playing arena for all who wish to participate in Tribal club events. We realize it's a bit late to start a summer league, but we will be hosting a summer dubs league each Thursday through the end of October starting next Thursday, August 22nd. A winter league will also begin when summer league ends, and details of that will be forthcoming. The recent tournament that was held at JCC, Rise of the Phoenix, was hosted by the Tribe and was a huge success! Hopefully some of you that made it out will find their way back to attend some of the league days and to the events that we will be hosting in the near future. Until then, may the sun be at your back and the wind guide your disc..
