Meier Lake Classic participants,



We are very excited about seeing everyone at Meier Lake in less than two weeks! It is hard to believe that the event is so close.



You will be part of history. The largest PDGA event in Alaska history was the 7th Annual King of the Hill event in 2017 which had 85 competitors. The Meier Lake Classic currently has 117 players signed up to play making it the largest sanctioned disc golf event in Alaska history!



I have attached a copy of the course map. The course has two tees on every hole (except for #17 which has one tee on a dock). The course has a white basket and a blue basket on each hole. The white basket is shorter than the blue basket on each hole. The only OB on the course is the lake and roads and beyond. Roads and beyond will only come into play on holes 17 & 18.



Layouts used during the week:

Wednesday Random Draw Doubles: Everyone will play the short tees to the white baskets

Thursday Random Draw Doubles: Everyone will play the long tees to the blue baskets

Battle Under the Midnight Sun (Friday): Everyone will play the short tees to the blue baskets

Meier Lake Classic First Round (Saturday): All Open and Advanced divisions will play the long tees to the blue baskets. All Intermediate, Recreational, and Junior divisions will play the short tees to the blue baskets.

Meier Lake Classic Second Round (Sunday): All Open and Advanced divisions will play the long tees to the white baskets. All Intermediate, Recreational, and Junior divisions will play the short tees to the white baskets.



When can you practice the course?

The course will be open for participants to practice during the following times:



Wednesday, July 15

9AM to 7PM

Players must be off of the course by 7PM when the Paige Shue Clinic and Random Draw Doubles starts.



Thursday, July 16

9AM to 7PM

Players must be off of the course by 7PM when the Eric McCabe Clinic and Random Draw Doubles starts.



Friday, July 17

9AM to 10PM

Players must be off of the course by 10PM when the Battle Under the Midnight Sun C-Tier starts.



Saturday, July 18

9AM to noon

Players must be off of the course by noon when the first tee times for the Meier Lake Classic begin.



Sunday, July 19

9AM to noon

Players must be off of the course by noon when the first tee times for the Meier Lake Classic begin.

Please bring a water bottle to use during your round. We will have water on the course to refill your bottles.



COVID-19 Travel Restrictions for folks coming to Alaska from out of state:



As of today, travelers flying into Alaska have three options when they arrive:



1. Arrive with proof of a qualifying negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of departure to Alaska.

2. Take a COVID-19 test when you arrive in Alaska, and self-quarantine until results arrive.

3. Self-quarantine for 14 days or the duration of your trip (whichever is shorter).

Still healing from the fiasco last August but I think I’m ready for some standstill tee shots at this point. Hit me up on the side to hook that up. Mainly I’d like to get a meeting put together and see where we’re at as an organization, set up an election if warranted, and start having some real discussions about Government Peak. Breakup time is the best time to survey at that particular elevation and since Alcantra is in a good spot I’d love to get some plans in place for the next project.

As some of you may know, I have been and still am on the slope (indefinitely.) The club has some business to go over as well as an election to be held for 2018 officers. Due to the water content of a couple and the fact that this faulty batch of baskets ALL need minor welding, I'm letting the tees have a little more cure time and putting baskets back tomorrow. League, however, is at PC this week for some extra practice before Jailhouse. We'll enjoy these tees the following week. So, we have 4 in. And I have to say, my back hurts, and I'm not alone. I know we all work but please, the club, private donors and club members did the hard part and dropped some serious money. We just need help putting in the labor. If you only have 2 and a half hours to spare in the morning or evening- it's something. I am taking time off work for this and I really want to see it finished. I'll be working from around 10am to 10 pm tomorrow with intermittent help, and probably even longer on Wednesday. We all want to enjoy the finished product so please, if you at all can, come put in a couple hours.

Would like to see if anyone wanted to step up and run a tournament we have on the state schedule for the MSDGA for June 10. It can also be a 2 day, if desired. I'd rather not go to the hassle of digging for email addresses and building a survey online for elections. But, if there is even one objection to this (as write-ins are permitted in out elections) then please let me know right away and I will set up online voting. Otherwise the MSDGA will confirm the following 5 people to these positions, effective January 1st, 2017, with terms extending until the end of the calendar year.

There are excellent prizes for the winners, the player pack is great (driver, mid, putter, towel, wristband, koozie, scorecard, pencil) and I'm going to try a new thing $CASH$ CTP prizes. I also intend to play 2-2-2 or skins with anyone who's interested. It may not be a sanctioned tournament but the weather is supposed to be nice, there's lots of goodies to be won, aces to be hit and the players pack retails at around $65+. Registrants will be able to select their player packs discs, towels, minis, koozies and bracelets in the order of payment. Also included is a pencil and scorecard. Registration is $35 if paid in cash. The first three places will be paid and the prize selection sent to me was pretty amazing, plus there will be a $5 per person ace pot that will pay whether or not it is hit (CTP if not) and, as is usual, I have added extras out of my collection.

It has come to my attention that people don't know which course layout on the scene is the current layout. The 18 hole 2014 layout is the current one. PLEASE DO NOT ADD LAYOUTS TO THIS COURSE WITHOUT FIRST CONTACTING AN OFFICER. There is already a very large number of defunct layouts that I cannot delete and this makes posting league/tourney/casual round scores even more of a headache. I will be contacting DGScene for assistance in the coming days to help clean up this page. Once again, the appropriate layout is the New 18 (2014.) This was assembled using painstaking and accurate measurements that we took and that reflect the current layout of the course. Thank you for your cooperation.

Small parking lot, I'll start taking cash at 6:30 and pull cards at 7. Cost of entry this week will be $7 for members and $8 for non-members. For $12 you can purchase a 2015 bag tag which will allow you to play for large cash bounties and prizes through it the 2015 season.

You do not have to buy a tag to play leagues.
