Player Informational Email for The Vernal Inferno 4/29/23.
Thanks for registering for Black Ace Disc Golf’s first PDGA Sanctioned Tournament of 2023! I would like to thank the Michigan State Parks for the facility and for Disc Baron’s support to BADG which makes running these events easier on me. It looks like no rain! (Yes, I probably did just curse us all).
There will be a MANDATORY check in from 7:45am – 8:30am near the putting basket. There will be an optional player’s meeting at 8:35am.
We are playing 2 rounds of 18 holes of the BADG Jumbo 18 Format. We are playing Hole 1, 4, 8-11, A-F, 12-16, & 18. These are all in the online scorecard (see below) MA1 is playing from the long positions all day. MA2 is playing from the longs in Round 1 and the shorts in Round 2. MA3 & MA4 are playing from the short positions. The only short pads are Hole C- F. They are natural pads and they have been marked with hot pink flags.
We will be using the PDGA Live Scoring App or the PDGA Live Scoring website (
www.pdga.com/score) for the event’s official scorecard. Either one will work and the access code will be provided at check in. Multiple people can do the scoring and I would actually recommend it as the system will automatically flag any scores that do not match each other for an immediate correction. All of the CTPs are loaded into the system as well as the OB (Water on 9, E, & F).
Things to Note:
There is a tree down across A’s fairway that the State Park is going to remove but we will play the hole as it is. You can get around on the left.
There is white rope in locations on the course. It has no meaning for this event. It is for ongoing coursework where holes are being modified.
There is yellow caution tape in locations on the course. If your disc lands within in, at your option, you may use this area as a Casual Area. See PDGA Rules 806.03.
There will be a 2 minute warning before play is started. There will be a 2 horn blast to indicate this. No more throws of any kind until the next signal horn has been sounded to start play.
If there is a weather emergency, there will be 3 horn blasts. Play has been suspended; it is not optional. See PDGA Competition Manual 1.07
Double check your registration NOW to see what side games (50/50 and Ace Pool) you did or did not get into. You can go here,
https://www.discgolfscene.com/tournaments
/The_Vernal_Inferno_2023/registration and hit EDIT. It should show you what you signed up for.
The field is 100% set when registration closes at 8pm tonight. If you find yourself still on the waitlist, you will be refunded and removed from the event. If you are registered and cannot attend the event, you have missed the deadline for a refund at this point. The last opportunity to withdraw from the event is 7:59pm 4/28/23.
