However, I would like to show some support here for Joe's concerns (see below) and find myself with similar thoughts regarding the cost for amateur players to participate in this event.
Per the events guide for A-tier events on the PDGA site there should be "110% payout of Net Entry Fees to Amateur purse (prizes + player packs)." A quick Google search values the backpack around $35 (currently $32.62 from Amazon) but I understand that the ironed on decal from the sponsors may have added to the cost.
Even with "almost" 3,000 in amateur payouts the math does not seem to add up to 110%.
This also does not take into consideration that many amateurs had to take time off work, spend time away from family during a holiday and/or travel to participate in this event.
I have also never heard of another disc golf event with a players pack that did not include a single item related to disc golf.
Though the event may have been successful for Open players, I believe most amateurs felt this to be a miss.

This tournament cost $125 to enter, and it was disappointing to receives the AM players pack consisting of the Realtree Port Authority Camo Xtreme Backpack - $44.99, a lanyard and t-shirt. I am not sure how this adds up to $125 minus the fees to use the parks. In the past there have been rain jackets, water bottles, stools, hats, towels, and discs in the AM players pack. When I registered for this A-Tier Tournament, I expected something more.
I look forward to your reply regarding why the players pack was so small, when in C or B-Tiers, costing less, I have received a larger players pack.
