I’ve played every AM event on tour that has been offered thus far. Here is my honest to god opinion of the event.
MPO players were literally given strokes on “the open” course on holes like #13, 2, 15, 8, 11 etc while AMs played a heavily wooded, 9500’ unkept/unmowed course that included a 480’ tree bombed par 3 that had a mando, a 275 hole with a 7’ wide fairway and multiple par 4s over 400 ft. Talk about the rich getting richer.
Look at the course sta ...

This tournament was honestly one of the worst that I have been to. I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets replaced next year as a silver series. Plenty of other tournaments here in Texas with way better potential. I haven’t played a C Tier at a course as unprepared as Crossroads was. I talked to at least 15-20 people out there that said they wouldn’t be back. Three people from the Temple area on my card said they had never seen that course in such terrible conditions. The Am side is what you build your tournament on. I seriously hope something improves.

Neal, thank you so much for making this a great tournament. I was really excited about how much stuff the amateurs received from the player's pack and the payoff combined. Thanks for all the work you do to make events like this memorable!

Not sure if this is the best place. I am set to tee off at 10am but my son is sick and I won't make it this morning.

They're up. For what it's worth, the opportunity to play and then go watch Pros play amazing golf is invaluable and added immensely to my tournament experience. If the tournaments were on separate weekends, I'd more than likely have to choose between playing or spectating. The combined experience is well worth the challenges imho.

Straight up that was an awful showing of a tournament and course for us Ams. If your disc touched the ground you weren’t getting a skip. It died right there. I’m not one to usually speak about course conditions but come on. Our money matters also so show us some love.
I never complain also, and most of the people I have met these last few days working have been great people. But that course was a train wreck period
We will run AMs on a separate weekend next time so we have more time to get it right.

Lost a Black Discmania Essense, unmarked/no name. Left it on the field next to Hole 1. If anyone knows anything, thanks!

What's going on with tee times tomorrow for ams?
Was there a time restraint that affected course prep or something? I don’t understand not having enough time? We signed up 3 months ago, did courses get switched? It seems there was enough lead time to get the caddy book printed correctly...I’d love to discuss this more if you want to sh ... more
Feel free to call me after the event and we will discuss. We can't do anything about it now.

Anyone find a pink thunderbird? Lost at park avenue
Le Anne Bull March 19, 2021 at 9:06pm

In a similar vein, did anyone pickup an unmarked, Orange, Metal Flake Barsby Empire stamped Draco?
David Jarzynka March 19, 2021 at 12:57am
I found a Harp on hole 8 at Crossroads and an Innova Max on hole 1 at Park Ave today neither had any markings. If you lost them today, send a DM or Comment and we can meet up this weekend to get them back to you.

I understand we can pick up player packs on Friday are there set hours and who do I see
"AM Player Packs We have a pretty healthy players pack and they will be available for pick-up starting Friday morning 10:00 am at Heritage Park. Use the Park Avenue entrance to Heritage Park and drive the gravel road to Gate 11 (we call it that because it's by hole 11's basket). Gate ... more
Thanks I've hoping an injury would not prevent me from player sadly I don't see that happening so I withdrew so someone else can play
Jeff Norvell March 18, 2021 at 4:01pm
Basket for 16 at crossroads still in the long.
Keegan Haupt March 18, 2021 at 1:53pm
It says in the email we got that we must be a UDisc scorekeeper in order to watch the pros. This is for people without the Badge, right?
I thought the designated watching areas were for those who are not signed up for the tournament.
we have designated areas in on the course and outside the course
Alex Aguilar March 16, 2021 at 1:36pm
Did I get into tournament???
Asher Cook March 15, 2021 at 9:41pm
Since we are still under the COVID precautions, I expect that we will still use the digital formatting.
Yes PDGA scoring app as written in the section in the caddie guide PDF call "This would be a good time to read the fine print"
Steve Ganz March 15, 2021 at 8:13pm
Has the caddie guide for Crossroads at been updated yet? It’s still showing 27 holes at https://www.theopendgc.com/course/tba-dgc-2021
Keegan Haupt March 15, 2021 at 5:49pm
Will we be using the PDGA Live Scoring for this tournament or are we not going to be keeping score digitally?
It says that AMs will be using the PDGA app. Is there a code to get into the scorecard. By the PDGA app, it is meaning the PDGA.com/score, right?
Correct. It says the code will be published at www.theopendgc.com/news at the appropriate time. The starter can also provide you with the code prior to your tee-time.
You really cannot complain that the pros did good on holes like 13, 2, 15, 8, and 11. They got good scores on those holes because they are better than us at disc golf. You really cannot complain that the pros did good on holes like 13, 2, 15, 8, and 11. They got good scores on those holes because they are better than us at disc golf. If we played those same holes, our scores would not be the same. If you look at Paul Ulibarri's second round on holes 13, you see that he bogied the hole instead of getting an albatross. Of course the pros will get a better score than us. It is not because we played a harder course, it is because they are significantly better than us. When I signed up for this tournament, I knew what course I was playing at. I was aware that Crossroads was heavily wooded. Yes, I do agree that it needed to be mowed and to be better kept. We did not lose money in this tournament. It was not a rip-off. Neal told me that the Player Pack costed approximately $75. Even for the AM's, it did not cost that much which means that just from the player pack, we got a better deal. On top of that, we got to, for FREE, watch any of the three rounds of disc golf that the pros played. Also, this was "the Open's" first year of allowing divisions other than MPO and FPO to play. Give them a break for not having one of the courses perfect and in shape.
Wow. This is why you're still an amatuer. Go practice instead of running your mouth.. Belton was a fantastic event and a great experience for all the Ams that even got to play. You're putting down a lot of people that worked very hard to make this happen. I will definitely be back. Thanks to everyone that made this possible.
Agreed!
Yes! It was a great tournament. AFter the first two or thre holes at Crossroads, I learned to play the course expecting it not to skip. It just requires you to think a little bit more about your throws.
